The University of Houston-Clear Lake hosted a screening of "The Mask You Live In," a film directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of Calif. Democrat Governor-Elect, Gavin Newsom.

The film discusses "hypermasculinity" and boys' tendency to commit suicide, crime, and flunk out of school at higher rates than girls.

Two female UH-CL students expressed dissatisfaction with the event.

Very few universities are not infected with this nonsense.

GSU mandates 'all students' take 'diversity and inclusion' courses
Andrew Lawrence
on Nov 16, 2018 at 10:05 AM EDT

Georgia Southern University will mandate that "all students" take "diversity and inclusion" courses.

Under the new curriculum, all first and second-year students will be required to take the yet-to-be-announced courses, according to the student newspaper The George-Anne. This move is a result of diversity and inclusion resolution, passed by the GSU Student Government Association.

GSU SGA Senator-at-Large Keyshawn Housey, members of the GSU National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and members of the National Pan-hellenic Council (NPHC), a collaborative organization of African American fraternities and sororities, authored the resolution.

“There is a lack of civil discourse about race, diversity, and inclusion due to a fear of backlash among faculty, staff, and students on this campus,” the resolution states, going on to put the school's demographic makeup into context.   ...

“I am black and Filipino, and I think that this is one of those situations where, although the road is paved with good intentions, this was poorly executed,” junior Alfredo Small told Campus Reform. “Being that this course is required, this is going to generate more dissent from students. Classrooms are not an organic way to teach people to accept others. You can’t map out social change. You can’t force it.”  ...

Youths these days, have few worries.

Us "boomers" endured parents that survived Depression and WW, and we coped with Free Speech, Sex, Drugs and outstanding Rock & Roll.

I think youth today look at that record, and feel inadequate and even jealous. psychologists, that a typical 18 year old college freshman today, has the mind of a 15 year old from very recently.

Sadly we let them vote,, and run the universities instead of adults asserting themselves, and doing the jobs of parenting, teaching, and establishing rules.

My entire life has been shaped by my mother's tales of what the Great Depression was like. I don't waste money on anything. I still think saltines in a glass of milk can be considered a treat, because it was what passed for a treat in her day. I think Christmas stockings should include an orange and some walnuts, because those were really special back in the early 1930s.

While that may seem pathetic to some, it's resulted in a certain level of affluence on my part. I don't waste money on things I don't need, like iPhones. My first question is, "Do I need it?" and when the answer is no, I don't buy it.

Youth today have absolutely no understanding of history. They aren't taught American history from the 1600s, only from the mid-1900s. Saying they have the mind of a 15-year-old is being generous. Most of the ones with which I'm familiar are stalled somewhere in the 11-12 year-old range.

The youth today feel hopeless and therefore helpless. They've been told everything about America is bad. Competition is bad because someone has to "lose". That anything that sounds offensive has to be muted. That humans are destroying the planet. Most are certain that the earth is dying because of human greed so they think capitalism is bad and want "socialism" and they don't even know what socialism is. This has happened because we gave the left essentially free rein over our schools to practice their theories on our children.

Syracuse U: Mandatory diversity course 'didn't hit the mark'
Adam Sabes
Today at 3:55 PM EDT

A mandatory diversity and inclusion course at Syracuse University is being widely labeled as unsuccessful, as students in the program were not engaged, and didn’t feel the course was necessary.

Following a video that surfaced out of the Theta Tau fraternity last spring that contained racist language and included sex acts, according to the Daily Orange, the university responded in one way by mandating all freshman take a course made to talk about “identity and inclusion.”

Karen Hall, the assistant director of civic engagement and academic advising in the Renée Crown University Honors Program worked with the facilitators of the class and helped train them, however, she felt the class missed the mark.

“We value the purpose, but it didn’t hit the mark,” Hall told The Daily Orange. “It went wide of the mark. In fact, if we were using a dartboard analogy, it hit the wall and fell to the floor.”

According to the Daily Orange, the course was divided into five weeks, with each week focusing on a different topic such as “Who am I? Wellness and relationships” as well as “Allyship action planning.” One week focused on Trevor Noah’s book  "Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood.”

One student, Kal Russell, who studies biology at Syracuse, told the student newspaper that the course wasn’t the right response to the situation at Theta Tau.

“We all know why it got started, and it felt like this wasn’t the correct response for the issue,” Russell said.

One facilitator for the first program even quit after the first day, stating that students were far from interested.   ...

Maybe there is some hope for American youth, after all.
