I tried computing what the cost of a typical dinner or drinks would become in a typical joint like Red Robin, where there's at least a dozen staff on duty.

The $10 cheesburger either gets smaller, or the price goes up at least 50%.

Yeah, but the bottom line would be the same.......the meal would suck.

Obastard said businesses that get in a pinch because of increasing Minimum Wage can just raise their prices to accommodate.  Easy peasy.  I believe the example he was making was pizza restaurants.  The logic, if you can call it that. is that all pizza places would have to raise prices, so nobody gets a competitive advantage.  I guess he never heard of chain restaurants

My brother owned and operated take-out pizza and submarine shops in Western NY.  Sent three boys to college and owns 3 homes.

He sold everything 2 years ago.   Why?

Simply the price of cheese.

Love the Bonzai Burgur with slices of pineapple and lite barbecue sauce.

Also the blue cheese black truffle 'special'

I don't know which is more funny. This absurd bill being introduced by two back bench clowns or people here have a serious discussion on an item of legislation that is going right into the dumpster the moment the ink is dry on the paper.

Yeah, I started giggling at hand packer/soda jerk.

Speaking of cheese, I found out in the last couple of years that Domino's, Pizza Hut and Papa Johns all started ordering their cheese from the same place years before.  That was about the time I asked myself, "Why do these guys suddenly suck so much?"  Now I know why.  Crappy cheese.

Speaking of sucking, I should get my septic tanks sucked out. They are not full of crappy cheese. Just regular crap.

Another overreach. But Congress had freely ignored the bounds of the Constitution for decades.

That was my very first thought.  How can Congress constitutionally create a bill to force a company to pay a specific dollar amount?  Walmart has the money.  IF indeed a bill is created, they need to take it all the way to the SCOTUS!  This is getting ridiculous.  Hopefully big $$ will wake up and start fighting back. Hello Bernie:  HINT:  If people don't like the wages being paid at Wally World, they don't have to work there!!!  What a freaking' socialist idiot.  Even more sad, are all the clowns who feel that just because Walmart has been a huge success that they are owed!    9999hair out0000 9999hair out0000 888mouth 888mouth

No joke, @Cyber Liberty

Went to visit him last year and he took me to his supplier where I bought grated Romano cheese that appeared as rice kernels.

Ate an entire bag over a week with a spoon.   Never met a teaspoon of sauce.

Did you know that Buffalo, NY is the junk food capital of the Western Hemisphere?

The Seller just finished doing that at the castle.  We're taking possession next week, with a nice clean septic tank.

So, if I make enough money to buy a half a pizza per hour working at the pizza place, and then my wage goes up and the price of the pizza goes up, how much pizza will I be able to buy with an hour's wages?

But at least the government will take in more in taxes, and debasing the dollar reduces the debt in real terms, so I've got that going for me.

Legislation aimed at coercing action from a specific corporation (or person) is unconstitutional as "Bills of Attainder", is it not?

Article I, Section 9, paragraph 3:
"No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law will be passed."
