Gallup: Five Million Central Americans Want to Join Caravans to the U.S.
Breitbart, Nov 13, 2018, Neil Munro

Five million poor Central Americans want to migrate into the United States’ communities and workplaces, according to a report by Gallup.

The caravans of economic migrants moving northwards to the U.S. border “actually represent a relatively small fragment of a much larger group of people in their own region — and around the world — who say they would like to move to the U.S. if they could,” said Gallup.

The five million number is one-in-three adults in Central America, the survey firm said. But average birth rate and family size in Central America are roughly twice as large as in the United States, so the migration of 5 million could lead to the birth of at least 5 million additional people after the migrants get jobs in the United States.

The estimate was posted by Gallup as President Donald Trump’s lawyers try to fend off lawsuits against his November plan to curb the growing use of asylum claims by economic migrants from Central America, including the migrants who are part of the caravans heading to the U.S. border.

On Tuesday, the ACLU and other elite groups who favor cheap-labor migration are asking a California judge to block Trump’s asylum-reform, anti-caravan plan.

Trump’s lawyers are expected to say his plan complies with Congress’ law by offering caravans of migrants full access to asylum courts if they apply at the border’s “ports of entry,” while also offering a limited form of asylum, dubbed “withholding from removal,” to migrants who illegally sneak into the United States.

If upheld, Trump’s “withholding of removal” fix would be a huge blow to the cartels’ labor trafficking business. It would be a blow because it would deny migrants the easy access to U.S. jobs which is needed to pay the cartels’ smuggling costs and profits

Commentary on the Gallup poll:

... Which shows what's at stake as President Trump attempts to shut down the caravan and encourage the would-be migrants to apply for entry or asylum legally.

Immigrants are like anyone - they look at their chances for entry and set their price for what they are willing to pay to get what they want. If the price goes down and it's pretty cheap to enter the U.S. without papers and without consequences owing to all the leftwing lawyers, more from that five-million pool will come. If the price rises, as President Trump demands entry through a legal process, only the most desperate to get out are going to think that journey is worth it.

What's more, if migrants are not permitted to work, which is apparently the deal Trump is offering them if they enter illegally and can't claim asylum, the cartels which finance these migrant journeys (regardless of whether they are via caravan or coyote) aren't going to be able to profit from illegal immigrants, given that they won't have jobs to pay the cost of their trips back, and that will either drive their costs up to compensate or they will cut back. ...

Only five million? They must be joking. If they opened the borders and allowed anyone who wanted to enter,  we'd double the population in about ten years. Not only people from south of the border, people would be sailing leaky row boats, rafts, inner tubes, etc.  across the oceans to get here.

This is the hill the GOP has to choose to die on.

Anyone still mewling 'but they're natural republicans' needs to be immediately handed a broom and told to get the hell out of the way.
