I agree.  Even worse, the media, at least locally, portrays these groups as some kind of grassroots movement by ordinary citizens unhappy with something or the other.  They're harmless, doncha know -- just exercising their rights.  If the media knows anything about who funds them,  who is really calling the shots for them, and  what their real agenda is, they aren't going to tell us.

That has almost happened already several times. From what I've seen on the news, the problem is that while the Police stand around and let Antifa run wild, they arrest and prosecute anyone who fights back. It is like the Police are supporting Antifa. They don't. They are just following orders. But the net effect of it is the Police are on their side. Which makes it almost impossible to defend yourself. I've seen videos of them arresting a person who got assaulted, and letting the Antifa thugs walk. It's insanity.

After an antifa group was widely criticized for mobbing Tucker Carlson's home and chanting "We know where you sleep at night!" the group defended itself, pointing out that if Carlson didn't want to get mobbed, then he shouldn't have disagreed with them in the first place.

As critics denounced the frightening actions of the mob, the group stood firm, claiming it was Carlson's own fault for not parroting leftist talking points on his program.

"There's a really easy way not to get mobbed in public places or your own home: march in lockstep with the leftist agenda," said a Smash Racism D.C. spokesperson. "It's really simple."

"What'd you think we were gonna do, disagree civilly? Yeah, right!" he added.

The group also warned other people that if angry, violent protesters show up at their homes or places of business and threaten or assault them, it's their own fault. Yeah, I know... But the difference is they are currently terrorizing John Q. Public. Totally different from street level. If you cause a blood feud with bangers or bikers, they won't quit - And they don't give a crap about the law one way or the other. And they will WRECK em, as a matter of course...

The left has gotten used to getting their own way. It has really thrown them off kilter to have the right fighting back. First Trump slaps the snot out of them, They can't get Kavanaugh to quit, Graham blasts them. They don't know how to handle the Right not being their willing punching bags any more.
