Socialist candidate for Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is very, very worried about our changing climate. In fact, she calls it an "existential crisis."

She also says that we already have a "blueprint" to fight it. All we have to do is "mobilize" the entire economy to achieve 100% renewable energy.

"So when we talk about existential threats, the last time we had a really major existential threat to this country was around World War II, so weâ€™ve been here before, and we have a blueprint of doing this before," Ocasio-Cortez began.

"What we had was an existential threat in the context of war," the candidate added. "And what we did was that we chose to mobilize our entire economy, and industrialize our entire economy, and we put hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to work in defending our shores and defending this country."

Then came the kicker: "We have to do the same thing in order to get us to 100 percent renewable energy

Horrible comparison

The NAZIS were an easily identifiable enemy with a goal that could be defined and the goal was their unconditional surrender

Climate change policies have no way to measure if theyâ€™re successful. Since no one can define what Earthâ€™s climate should be, we would be doing nothing except hurting the lower income folks and jeopardizing the economy plus our currency without really knowing if the issue of climate change is being resolved.

What we know without question is that policies to force CO2 reductions will come at enormous economic cost to ordinary Americans. But we have no idea whether such policies will have the slightest impact on climate change. It is exchanging real suffering in the here and now for a pig in a poke.
