McConnell to seek $5B for border wall

    Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will try to approve $5 billion for the construction of President Trump's long-promised southern border wall when Congress returns after the Nov. 6 election.

    McConnell, R-Ky., told the Washington Examiner Thursday the Senate won’t stick to the $1.6 billion wall funding included in the Senate’s 2019 Homeland Security Appropriations measure. Instead, it will try to raise the amount to match the House Homeland spending bill, which includes $5 billion for the wall.

    “We are going to try really hard to get the money the president would like this year for the border wall ,” McConnell told the Washington Examiner.

Hey Turtle, what did you arsewipes do with the 1.4 Billion you appropriated for 'the wall' in 2006 via 'The Secure Fence Act', and why did you spend another 2.3 billion for a 'virtual' fence from 2007 - 2015 because you idiots decided not to continue funding for an actual wall??

Who pocketed all that money to the tune of BILLIONS from OUR POCKETS??????

How much of a wall can we get with a measly $5B?

CBO said back in 2007 that we would need at minimum 50 BILLION to adequately build a wall with billions each year necessary to maintain it.

We can probably get a lot, so long as the money isn't arbitrarily wasted.

Question:
If this is merely a "funding" bill, originating in the House, it's not subject to filibuster in the Senate -- is that correct?

The vast majority of the property along its border(Texas) (upwards of 95 percent, according to some estimates) is privately owned land that has often been passed down for generations. The impact of this cannot be overstated, particularly in a state that is known for its ardent dedication to private property rights. So, rather than braving a flurry of lengthy legal battles with landowners fighting to protect their land from seizure through eminent domain, the federal government has largely avoided constructing border barriers in the Lone Star State.


The Eminent Domain Lawsuits will delay the construction of much of the wall in Texas.
