Welcome to a brand new SteynPost in which Mark expounds on some recent examples of a phenomenon John O'Sullivan, Mrs Thatcher's former speechwriter, noted some years ago: the ever more open contempt for the will of the people by the west's ruling class.

Instead of 3minute humor, it seems like Mark Steyn intends to be a (longer format) political commentator, and this is good.

Note I am using IDW for insightful video offerings.

This one wraps up the Judeo-Christian "West" nicely.

An idea for using IDW videos etc.

I have grown very, very tired of watching regular television. I have ALSO grown very tired of reading written material found mostly on Drudge, posted to Free Republic and TBR, then read the same insults cast by the same people, with little to no value added.

Instead listening or watching original material, usually with quite a lot of insight, is easy to do.

I have started listening to these "youtubes" while doing walks for fitness. Or listen to fall asleep.

The longer format is getting picked up by mainstream media, too.

Same here.  I do it while working on whatever during the day. I find the longer format allows the speakers to go into badly needed context and detail and explore ideas that would otherwise not be explored because of time limitations.

The Mark Steyn vid about "Populism," from his background and  viewpoint is fascinating.

(I have been something of a Europhile since my Army time in Germany, later a graduate thesis comparing the East & West German economies mid-70s, then 15+ years with 2 international corporations).
