To me the accusations against Moore was credible. Also, Moore could have won, if he spent time on the campaign trail then going to a football game.

It was the exact SAME type of smear campaign then as it is now.  That you found the unfounded, uncorroborated and unproven allegations credible only shows your bias against Moore, IMO.  And Moore probably would have won without the smear tactics.  Are you ok with that reality?  Letting the Democrats win?  I'm sure as hell not.

Doesn’t work that way.  My refusal to lay that mess out again for you because you demand it doesn’t translate to a “gotcha” for you.

You’re free to go back over my old posts on the subject.  Maybe you’ll see reason.  Or more likely not, since your rejection of it was & still is deliberate.

Consider this matter closed.

@CatherineofAragon

I read them when they were posted and have the same opinion of them today as I did then!  The matter is closed because there is now a Democrat sitting in a senate seat from Alabama that should have been filled by a Republican and YOU helped put him there IMHO!

Not exactly the same, but the same or similar M.O. of whoever is targeting public figures like Judge Kavanaugh and Roy Moore.  Have as many accusers as possible.  The ones who helped sink Moore's campaign found out there is strength in numbers.  If more than one person makes the same or similar accusation, then the accusations must be true.   No need for witnesses or evidence.

@Applewood

That’s happening with Kavenaugh, yes.

That was one of the more sickening periods in the history of this site and it looks like the dems are using the same playbook on Brett Kavanaugh.

Well, one difference is that Moore's denial wasn't exactly ironclad the way Kavanaugh's has been - certainly not at first.

What likely sank Moore was a bit of changing mores/standards.  He apparently dated someone who was 17 when he was 34.  That was spun as creepy now even though it probably was much more common back then.  He eventually denied that, but his initial statements were much less categorical.

It will be a cold day in the hot place before I would read any of your despicable rants against a man you thought was corny and 'not your type.'  I'm amazed you have the nerve to show your face on the Kavanaugh situation since you did the same type of smear on Moore.

I’m “biased” against Moore, too.  Despite the fact that I knew almost nothing about him and waited for facts to come out before making up my mind.

But we’re completely tribal now, operating on emotion and feeling.  And it feels so good.

“Not my type?”  He could be my father.  Hey, don’t tell him that!

I smeared Moore?  Damn, I’m powerful.

@XenaLee

Like I said earlier, feel free to look at my old posts because I’m not about to detail it again.

 Or google reputable conservative sources.  By that I mean not Breitbart or TOS; they’re a couple of the tiny minority that will tell you what you want to hear.

Sorry.  I don't play "that" game.

I saw NO facts that would indict Moore back then.  Just as I see none that would indict Kavanaugh.  Both cases were/are unbridled smear jobs and totally undeserved by both men, IMO.  So unless you want to rehash the whole thing all over again....

the subject should probably be dropped.   :thud:

You are not powerful at all but you show up here occasionally and you showed up daily to smear Moore.  It was a sickening display.

You know exactly what I meant about 'not your type.'  Moore was an ole country boy with very little sophistication but ten times the man as the one who replaced him.

It was certainly not you, but it was people like you on the democrat side who successfully torpedoed Moore and it you did have any power, which thank God you don't, you would have been a co-conspirator.

That's all I will say about it.

600 years of english common law is enough doncha think? Law of the Jungle is much better suited to the 24 hr news cycle and Progressive political prospects.

I'm with you 100%!

It seems people get so caught up in their hate and "moral superiority" that they never think, "hey what if I got accused?".

That is precisely right.
It was said right on this board that the court of public opinion does not require 'beyond a reasonable doubt'... That 'discernment' can be performed without evidence or oath.

That used to be called vile gossip.

 :amen:

One of the pillars of our republic, and why we are the envy of the world, was presumption of innocence and it is the State's responsibility to prove guilt. A confirmation isn't a court of law, but the trend towards an individual having to prove his innocence is unmistakable and frightening.

@bilo   That right is absolutely crucial in a democracy.

The problem is the pendulum.  It always swings too far.  There may well have been a time when womens' complaints were dismissed or ignored and that was wrong.  But now, it seems to have become that we must believe women, even if they are obvious liars.

Yes, you nailed me 100%, emjay.  Except that my husband and his family grew up in a tiny little rural village that isn't on most maps, full of farmers and "ole country boys," and I live in that country village now.  Also that I would rather be surrounded by "ole country boys" than just about anyone else, since sophistication, as you put it, is very low on my list of desirable qualities.

As is pretentiousness and affectation, which can take various forms which don't include fake sophistication and urbanity.  Affectation includes showing up to polls riding a horse in the hope that the "ole country boys" will be dumb enough to fall for it.

But feel free to construct another scenario to make yourself feel better.  I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with.

Nothing you can say would embarrass me.  We both know your sorry efforts on the Roy Moore thing, as if showing up on a horse was the ultimate sin.  How many times did you post that horse video?

I don't know if you are truly pretentious or not.  All I can go by is your posts here.

Can we drop this now.  I am truly not interested in a petty feud, even if you are.

Oh, FFS.....

Unless they were registered AL voters, nobody here that was critical of Moore had a damn thing to do with the outcome.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.
