Robert Mueller scrutinizing $3.3 million exchanged between planners of Trump Tower meeting: Report

Special counsel Robert Mueller is scrutinizing the transactions of $3.3 million between two people who planned the infamous Trump Tower meeting, a new report says.

The payments are being evaluated by Mueller’s team as part of his investigation, which is examining Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin.

According to documents reviewed by BuzzFeed News, money was being transferred between real estate developer Argas Agalarov, who has ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Trump, and one of his employees Irakly “Ike" Kaveladze.

Both men were instrumental in planning the Trump Tower meeting, and they began their transfer on the same day Donald Trump Jr. sent an email expressing interest in obtaining dirt on Hillary Clinton as planning for the Trump Tower meeting commenced. Trump Jr. met with Natalia Veselnitskaya, an attorney with ties to the Kremlin.

The documents are not directly correlated to the meeting, however. After the New York Times reported that the meeting had occurred, financial institutions were requested to review the bank accounts of those who attended and planned the meeting, including Agalarov and Kaveladze.
