President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center Ed Whelan on Friday apologized for identifying a classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as the person who could have sexually assaulted Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused Kavanaugh of assault.

“I made an appalling and inexcusable mistake of judgment in posting the tweet thread in a way that identified Kavanaugh's Georgetown Prep classmate. I take full responsibility for that mistake, and I deeply apologize for it. I realize that does not undo the mistake,” Whelan posted to Twitter Friday.

I was wondering how he managed to get Garrett's permission to post his picture.

Bad judgement, who has not made a bad call. The poor guy is probably so wrapped up in this about his friend, he theorized this. Maybe it had no input from Kavanaugh.
