Private letter shows Ronald Reagan tried to convert dying father-in-law to Christianity

 Christianity, Ronald Reagan

September 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – President Ronald Reagan reached out to his dying father-in-law in hopes the older man would give his life to Christ before passing from this world, a recently uncovered letter shows, offering a rare look at the late president’s faith in God.

Reagan evangelized Loyal Davis, stepfather of Reagan’s second wife Nancy (Davis) Reagan, and an atheist, speaking about the miracles associated with the life of Christ, including Christ being born of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“Loyal, you and (wife) Edith have known a great love – more than many have been permitted to know,” Reagan wrote. “That love will not end with the end of this life. We’ve been promised this is only a part of life and that a greater life, a greater glory awaits us. It awaits you together one day and all that is required is that you believe and tell God you put yourself in his hands.”

What, the letter itself?

Or the fundraising aspect of the linked site?

I’m beginning to think there is no G-d.

In fact, I’m pretty convinced there isn’t one. I’m done with religion.

Hang in there, He hasn't given up on you.

Yes, but based on this week, I’ve come to that conclusion. Maybe something in the next few weeks will convince me otherwise. But right now, no. And today is the most Holy day of the year and I really feel like he kicked me in the , ⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🎾

I have been where you are.  I wandered lost for years, not knowing I was lost.

Eventually I found my own type of foxhole.  Weeping and begging, I realized what was really missing in my life and how my soul yearned for that connection.  And it had nothing to do with the hole I had crawled into.

Then I had a few years of "now what?"

Eventually I found my path back to Him. I learned I still had my burdens, but they were lighter.

He doesn't promise no problems.  In fact it is assured.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! He has overcome the world.

Oh he's there.

It is we who've let him down. But hes still there.

Maybe having the Vicar of Christ condoning child rape and everyone shrugging their shoulders has something to do with that.
