"Better the ruler be feared rather than loved."
No one fears republicrats, such as chump Grassley,
which is why this charade will continue on and on.

Nope.

The Committee will vote to recommend that Kavanaugh be confirmed, the Senate will confirm him, and he'll be seated when the Supreme Court begins its new term on October 1.

Sorry to burst your bubble of cynicism.

Not sure where the criticism of Grassley comes in.  I think he's handled the whole ugly mess as well as anyone could be expected to.

I tend to agree. They've already tried to move Grassley, and he barely budged. He let them have their antics, but the hearing went forward and it was completed.

The only time he's moved is capitulation from within, i.e. Flake.

Unless he doesn't have the votes, he will move ahead.

Unlike over the weekend and yesterday, when the squishy moderates were speaking out independently of Grassley and making their own demands, they've been silent ever since Grassley offered the hearing for Monday.

He's gotten the caucus lined up, and he's going to push ahead.  Probably helped the GOP out for the midterms a bit in the process.

Chuck's an old farm boy who's still in the business. I've spoken to him a couple of times at conventions. He's the real deal, like talking to your neighbor.

If he plants his feet, he's not easy to budge, and don't underestimate him once he does. He's the typical Iowa boy.

But an awful lot of ordinary people, not just Republicans/conservatives, are going to do some eye-rolling at her refusing to testify when given the chance.

Especially those of us who've had to defend ourselves from false accusations. I'm guessing there are many.

The GOP needs to just slam this nomination through and trust the common sense of the American people. If they cant be trusted to see through this farce then all is lost anyway.

I agree with the sentiment and I think we will find that all is lost...but the politicians of both parties will keep sucking up to their true believers and drawing from the public trough to the very end ...and  sizeable minorities on both sides of the political spectrum will cheer them on.... the idea of an UNITED states is lost and gone...

Yup! It's almost impossible to get through live as a male and not be fingered for it.

My nephew was falsely accused of domestic violence and beating up an old dude in California, which has very "pro-victim" laws.  They set bail at $100,000, and this kid was a former Marine with no criminal history at all.  Thankfully, we got him bailed out, and once he was out, I could do some investigating on my end and got him out of it.

Anyway, after $10,000 for bail and $7,000 for a local lawyer, the charges were all dropped.  But he could have been really screwed if his uncle hadn't been a lawyer.

What BS. And she won’t testify w/o an FBI investigation first?? SHE made a serious allegation. The onus is on her to show up, otherwise, vote and confirm Kavanaugh NOW!

It scares me to think about how many men may have been similarly falsely charged but without the advantages your nephew had.

Letter from Dr Ford's lawyer contains 2 provably-false claims:
- Ford and BK were never going to be in the same room together, much less at the same table.
- She was offered public or private testimony — her choice.

If they're lying about this, what else are they lying about?

From my years of watching Law & Order, I'm afraid he's stuck for the 10% fee which since the bail was so high is $10,000.
