Democrats lead in Arizona, Tennessee Senate races: Polls

Democratic candidates in Arizona and Tennessee Senate races are leading their Republican opponents in new polls released Monday by CNN.
Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema is ahead of Republican Rep. Martha McSally by 7 points in the race for the open Arizona seat being left vacant by retiring Republican Sen. Jeff Flake. In Tennessee, former Gov. Phil Bredesen leads Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn by by 5 points, 50 percent to 45 percent, among likely voters.
Arizona and Tennessee are key if Democrats hope to flip the Senate, which until recently looked like it would remain in Republican hands. Democrats also have a chance at flipping Senate seats in Nevada and Texas — though the latter is more of a long shot.
CNN also polled likely voters views on President Trump. In Tennessee, voters were split on Trump, with 49 percent approving and 48 percent not approving of the job he's doing. In Arizona, 39 percent approve of Trump's performance compared to 57 percent who disapprove. Nationally, Trump's approval rating is at 36 percent, according to CNN.
The shock poll is sure to worry Republicans, who are engaged in a bitter feud with Democrats over Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.
The polls in question were conducted between Sept. 11 and 15 and involved 1,001 adults in Arizona and 1,000 in Tennessee.
