1 Timothy 2:1-4

Do you pray for the president, Invar?

I pray for the nation, for our country and I do pray for "us all".   So I figure that, by proxy, includes Trump.  And since I also figure that God is guiding and/or using Trump for His purposes, I don't see the need to pray 'for Trump', specifically.   But whatever.

This isn't about the average Joe. This is about who we grant power and authority to to lead a nation. You damn well better make moral judgments of those who seek power and authority over you and the nation. They wield it in your name.

You choose immoral people you get immoral fruits.

Agreed.  But when was the last time that "we" (meaning Conservative Christians) actually got what we wanted re: a leader of America?  Some would say back with GWB.  I would say not since Reagan.

PSSST! Here's a secret...
The Pharisees did not uphold Torah. They did not stand in the principles of the Law.

PSSST!  Here's the secret you're avoiding:  You stand on the principles of the law, yet piss on the spirit of it.  Gandhi said it best:  “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

There is no room for love, compassion or redemption in your "principled" interpretation of Jesus and His teachings.  Such interpretations turn Jesus into a monster only reachable through your principled dictates --- dictates that are stripped of everything Jesus is.

There are modern day Christian Pharisees among us @roamer_1  and several have found a home right here in River City. But, Christians have always had them and with God's grace and help have seen them for what they are and shunned them.

And now you and I have reached another agree to disagree moment.  You won't change my mind ... nor will I change yours.  Continuing to belittle and insult me will only serve to prove my point:  you preach to be better than and to stand in the glory of a spotlight,

I wish a good evening and Godspeed.

Dead wrong. There's plenty of room for redemption for those who seek it. From all indications Trump does not seek it. At all. He even said he hasn't asked God for forgiveness because he doesn't think he's done anything to require it. The arrogance of that is astounding. But carry on...

1 Timothy 2:1-4

Do you pray for the president, Invar?

I pray for the leaders only so that I might be left alone, to live peaceably and to be able to do God's work unmolested.

I do not pray for politicians to have political success.

Gee, @Right_in_Virginia ... you sure seem to know a whole lot about what's in my mind. Evidently, more than me...

Interesting.  Using a devout Hindu's observation to attack a biblical Christian understanding and application of scripture.  Next you'll quote Osama Bin Laden's views of Christians for us as an indictment of our faith and understanding.

Such interpretations turn Jesus into a monster only reachable through your principled dictates --- dictates that are stripped of everything Jesus is.

Such ignorance.  Biblical Christians do not 'interpret' scripture.  People who 'interpret' intend to change the plain meaning of whatever is written.  We see that played out in the courts regarding the Constitution each day.

Biblical Christians have understanding, that does not change or need to be interpreted - because we believe what the Word says in the proper context and application in concert with the rest of scripture.

There are modern day Christian Pharisees among us @roamer_1  and several have found a home right here in River City.

ReallY?  And which of us have stated that God cannot work with anyone but us?  Which of us have said that the laws and precedents of men (church) trump the Law of God?

It was the Pharisees who declared that Jesus had a demon and was "evil" because He did not follow the Traditions of the Elders (cultural Political Correctness if you will), yet like them - you accuse those who abide by and adhere to the plain meaning of scripture to be evil in themselves.

And now you and I have reached another agree to disagree moment.  You won't change my mind ... nor will I change yours.

Self-evident for some time now.

Continuing to belittle and insult me will only serve to prove my point:  you preach to be better than and to stand in the glory of a spotlight,

He did nothing of the sort.  He shone the spotlight of an immovable biblical principle, and you reject it outright.   I find it amazing how self-identifying Christians are so eager to stand together with Hindu's, militant atheists and Secularists to castigate biblical moral principles being advocated by those whom are declared to be 'evil' for doing so.

Directly related to moral principles and liberty - because without biblical principles, there is no liberty as intended for us.

Only freedom and anarchy.

Does it bother you that our country was founded on Biblical principles, newcomer?

Strange that you think you can control conversations around here that directly relate to the country that most of us were born and raised in and that directly affect the mess we are now in.

The very reason America is circling the drain right now is that we have forsaken the principles of morality and Biblical law on which our Founders based this once great Republic.

And yes, we are permitted to discuss the Biblical morality and ethics here, since it directly relates to the political discussions we have, your protestations notwithstanding.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

"Sometimes I think the Church would be better off if we would call a moratorium on activity for about six weeks and just wait on God to see what He is waiting to do for us. That's what they did before Pentecost."   - A. W. Tozer

Use the time God is giving us to seek His will and feel His presence.
