McCain’s Presidential Funeral and Trump Bash
Sep 10, 2018
RUSH: Here’s Wade in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Welcome, sir. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Rush, it’s a great, great pleasure to talk to you. I’ve been listening to you since 1989 when I was in the United States Navy.
RUSH: Well, that’s 29 years. That’s almost a lifer for you. I appreciate that.
CALLER: Absolutely, sir. When you were talking about John McCain’s funeral, it brought back a memory of something you stated to us many, many moons ago. The Paul Wellstone memorial and political rally.
RUSH: Now, the Wellstone memorial was a lot more raucous and irreligious than the McCain funeral. The Wellstone memorial was not actually a funeral. All of that had happened. Wellstone had been laid to rest. This was actually just a memorial some weeks afterwards as opposed to an actual funeral service in a church. But I get your point. There were many similarities in terms of the politicization, right?
CALLER: Oh, yes, sir. It was a funeral and a memorial service, and then it turned into, for lack of a better word, an anti-Trump rally and, you know, Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing, and now he’s attacking this great American.
RUSH: This is where I differ from you. I don’t think it turned into anything. And I’m not being critical. Don’t misunderstand. Don’t misunderstand my words or my tone of voice. I don’t think it turned into anything. I think it was what it was planned to be. And I think, I alluded to this in the first hour. John McCain was a twice loser, and yet he got a presidential funeral. Why? I don’t think that’s accidental. I don’t think it’s coincidental. A United States Senator. When’s the last time you saw a funeral like that for any United States senator, folks? You just don’t see it.
