Nebraska becomes first state to use fentanyl in execution
Corky Siemaszko 4 hrs ago

Nebraska on Tuesday became the first state to execute a prisoner with a deadly cocktail that included a drug that has killed thousands of innocent Americans — fentanyl.

Carey Dean Moore, a convicted double-murderer who has spent more than half his life on death row, was pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m. local time (11:47 ET), according to pool reports from the death chamber at the state penitentiary in Lincoln, Nebraska.

"There didn't appear to be any complications," said Chip Matthews of News Channel Nebraska, one of four reporters who witnessed the execution. However, he added, "the curtain was down for a period of time."

I guess it is unlikely that fentanyl will become unavailable.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I wonder why they don’t go back to the old ways :

Bullets work. So does old sparky. Or Madame Guillotine.

Seriously, if we are going to have capital punishment, why not hang someone, or firing squad, or electric chair?

Most of these people showed no compassion for their victims. Or we can leave them with a cup of poison and a warm bath and a sharp knife. That way they can do it to themselves, and we don’t have to carry out a death sentence.

Gosh I’ve been watching too much ID Discovery.

I suspect it's available on every street corner in my area. We seem to have a lot of people overdosing on it, anyway.

It wasn't just Fentanyl. It was a 4-step procedure...
Valium (diazepam)
Then Fentanyl
Then Nimbex (cisatracurium besylate)
Then potassium chloride.

The third step is actually the controversial one, as it's a paralyzer.  The fourth step is an agonizing heart stopper.

In past botched executions, the executed was still awake but paralyzed.  The protocol had been approved under the condition that step 2 would result in unconciousness.

Hopefully, Fentanyl will overcome that objection.

Just use Carfentanyl. One and done.
