More than 100 newspapers will publish editorials decrying Trump's anti-press rhetoric
CNN, Aug 11, 2018, Brian Stelter

"The dirty war on the free press must end."  That's the idea behind an unusual editorial-writing initiative that has enlisted scores of newspapers across America.

The Boston Globe has been contacting newspaper editorial boards and proposing a "coordinated response" to President Trump's escalating "enemy of the people" rhetoric.  "We propose to publish an editorial on August 16 on the dangers of the administration's assault on the press and ask others to commit to publishing their own editorials on the same date," The Globe said in its pitch to fellow papers.

As of Saturday, "we have more than 100 publications signed up, and I expect that number to grow in the coming days," Marjorie Pritchard, the Globe's deputy editorial page editor, told CNN.

The American Society of News Editors, the New England Newspaper and Press Association and other groups have helped her spread the word.

"The response has been overwhelming," Pritchard said. "We have some big newspapers, but the majority are from smaller markets, all enthusiastic about standing up to Trump's assault on journalism."

Anti-Trump rhetoric - OK
Anti-Press rhetoric  - not OK
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

Laziness on the media's part.
They've sung this song since day one.
All  they had to do was cut and paste previous articles.
Anyone who bought this weekend's  addition of these publications should demand a refund, since they've already purchased them before.

No One, even the regular consumers of their BS, will even notice that anything has changed.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Title:
"More than 100 newspapers will publish editorials decrying Trump's anti-press rhetoric"

Dat's fine.

I won't read or pay for a single one of those "papers".

I sense that a growing number of folks think the same way.

I hope that this post is construed to be "anti-press rhetoric", because that's exactly what it is!

Newspapers? Really? They still exist?

Well I remember having a paper delivered long ago.
Toledo Blade. One of America's Great Newspapers.
Maybe they meant only great paper.

Well, the existing newspapers are onto something
new.

Piss off their remaining readers. Having all the
papers doing it makes sure that its harder to
subscribe to one marginally better. That should
boost both advertising and readership. Really!

Smart doods them newspaper guys.

Well, at least the Blade stopped using my phone
number for training their subscription solicitors.
That finally ceased about 5 years back.

 LOL…

I think these newspaper editors have an over inflated view of themselves
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Oddly enough I don't recall them being upset of Obammy's comments about "Faux" news, as I recall quite a few of them piled on.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

I’m certainly not anti-press. Just the opposite: I’m anti thinly disguised coordinated political attacks, and unsourced, innuendo laden, democrat talking-points trying to pass itself off as journalism.

Anyway you look at it, I’m against any lying-and-seditious news practice which dishonors the first amendment.

I think that's why they refer to themselves as "journalists." That way, they don't have to be like actual news reporters, that is, simply report what's happening in a concise, factual and unbiased manner.

Even our little Podunk newspaper was bought out by USA today.  They run pro-democrat articles and negative Trump articles non-stop.  I don't guess they understand why their subscriptions are falling like a rock.

I remember the Boston Globe. They printed doctored photos from a porn site and said they were US soldiers raping an Iraqi woman.

If people who think the press is the enemy can't be persuaded by 350 identical newspapers editorials, I guess I there's no hope for them
