Lindsey Graham Rips ‘Birthright Citizenship’

South Carolina's senior senator — not exactly an immigration hawk — takes on an issue other Republicans duck

By Brendan Kirby | Tuesday, July 31, 2018

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) isn’t known as an immigration hawk, but on Tuesday he took on an issue many other Republican politicians have ducked — so-called birthright citizenship.

The term refers to the widely understood belief that the 14th Amendment automatically confers citizenship on nearly any baby born on U.S. soil — regardless of whether the parents have a connection to the United States.

Good for Lindsey.

Yep, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Graham, representing as he does the labor lobby, ought to get foursquare behind movements to end not only birthright citizenship but also chain migration, which do not nearly as much to augment the labor situation as they do buttress the welfare state and democrat party, and support an entirely merit based immigration system.

From the Hill:

Quote
"Trump's right, our laws are stupid. The idea that 98 percent of unaccompanied minors never leave the country ... if that's not an incentive for parents to send a kid to America, I don't know what would be," Graham added.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Hopefully a 5-4 or 6-3 Supreme Court could settle this correctly, forever.

Alone, that is a great reason to support this President, support American Patriotism, support American Nationalism, support American Exceptionalism, support American sovereignty.

I agree with truth_seeker that we should push this issue into the Supreme Court.

There's no guarantee of success there, even with a conservative Court. But we should at least try.
