Coca-Cola says it's raising soda prices after Trump tariffs
By Emily Birnbaum - 07/25/18 10:01 PM EDT

Coca-Cola Company on Wednesday said they will raise the price of their signature sodas this year in part because of the financial strain caused by President Trump's tariffs.

Coca-Cola's Chief Executive James Quincey told the Wall Street Journal that they are stepping up prices in response to the rising costs of delivery and metal prices after the U.S. slapped $50 billion duties on Chinese products earlier this year.

He declined to give further details about the price change and pointed to multiple factors influencing the change.

“There is some broad-based push on input costs that have kind of come in and affected ours and many other industries as well,” Quincey told the Journal.

See, this is the phony bullshit these garbage companies pull all the time. Any excuse to jack prices for no reason and blame someone else. This is just like the Hardly Davidson nonsense. Eff them all.

From what I read, Coca Cola took their tax cut and still were firing employees.

Seems their business is not running so smoothly, so any price hike is just a political newsroom move for this company.

And the company favors liberal charitable contributions, like the National Urban League and Center for American Progress

It does now.  I haven't had a coke in over 10 years now.... and don't miss it.

This is like the earlier story today where Whirlpool blamed the tariffs that were just put in place for a huge drop in stock and then when you dig deeper you find they have serious worldwide corporate and delivery problems.

Usually, at the store, they have something on sale, $1 for a 2 liter bottle of coke, Mountain Dew, Pepsi, etc. or on Energy drinks, I saw none today. I would not doubt there is some sort of ripple affect in the market right now. One doesn't need a lot of those sugary drinks anyway.

Yeah, that's what the 6 year old is for.  He's known how to do laundry for 2 years, including informing my husband how much of which detergent to put in on the rare occasion that hubby does a load.

Me neither. went back to sweet tea... Go through a box of Lipton's or Red Rose about every three months or so... for what, maybe three bucks?

Best thing I ever did, getting off all that canned crap. Though every now and then, a root beer or a creme soda makes for a treat.

Wow. Mr Excitement. Do you have plain cheese frozen pizza with that root beer to ratchet things up?

Nope. I make my own pizza nowadays. Hopefully there will be a wood fired pizza/bread oven in the back yard before winter.... How's that for excitement?

I can pay the Guineas down the road for a wood fired pizza and keep the patio clear for the hot tub and orgies.

Wiping the tears from my eyes Frank.

You really need to clean that hot tub water more often, it shouldn't burn them like it does when I'm underwater with my snorkel gear.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775
