Republican bill would stop US embassies flying gay ‘pride’ flags
Calvin Freiburger

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 24, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) -- Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are aiming to forbid U.S. embassies from raising “gay pride” flags, or any banner other than the Stars and Stripes.

Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-SC, is spearheading the effort in response to a handful of past instances in which American embassies around the world flew rainbow flags to promote homosexual “pride” or “rights,” the Washington Examiner reports.

Introduced last Thursday, the Old Glory Only Act does not single out LGBT flags; rather, it forbids the flying of any flag other than the American flag. As of Friday it has 26 cosponsors, all Republicans.

I suspect this story will end up a good example of how opposing special rights for some will be presented as a grave violation of civil rights.

There was some city, I forget which, and they swiped the flag down.

I think I saw a company with the flag flying outside it once. Though, I may not agree with it, that would seem to be their right to free expression.

Cities flying the flag is problematic for me, let alone this story is about a whole nation, US! flying it.

Not really a "good example".... since only about 4-5% identify as gay in the US.  Flying a "gay pride" flag is misrepresenting the other 95% of straight and/or heterosexual Americans..... and if you wanted to argue 'civil rights'.... it is violating the civil rights of anyone that is not gay.

And hey.... what's that "pride" thing all about, anyway?  According to them, they are born that way.... it wasn't a choice.  What is there to be ""proud"" of?  And if it is something to be ""proud"" of... why is it wrong for straight folks to be proud they are straight?   (rhetorical)

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

My comment is more related to its presentation in the media - the GOP once again abusing an oppressed minority - but I get your point.
