Paul Manafort kept in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day

Newly released court documents explain that President Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort is being kept in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day ahead of his July 25 trial, citing that his safety cannot be guaranteed otherwise while in prison.

The big picture: Manafort's bail was revoked by a judge, and his legal team is currently appealing that decision arguing that being imprisoned in such a manner at a facility two hours away from his legal team is hampering his ability to defend himself. Manafort has been indicted on charges including money laundering and bank fraud.

Anyone explain why a man is in solitary for a 15 year old crime that most people get out of by amending paperwork and paying a fine? Oh yeah. Stupid Bobby is running this investigation as a witch hunt.

Easily explained.  He's currently incarcerated for witness tampering that occurred between February and April of this year.  The list of over two dozen charges include money laundering, tax evasion, bank fraud, wire fraud, and the FARA violation you erroneously attributed to his current housing arrangements.

Why is this witch hunt continuing?  The incredibly biased, deep state plant, Trump hating judge T. S. Ellis III saw the unredacted filing and said the prosecution made credible monetary connections between Manafort and Russian contacts between the years 2006-16.

Oh, wait.  Ellis had actually made headlines for his admonishment of the prosecution earlier this year.  Despite that, he found in his ruling they had followed proper procedure and satisfied his question as to the relevance of the decade old charges to the current investigation.  Further, he offered the unsolicited opinion that the defense challenge to the constitutionality of the special counsel would likely fail.  Interesting.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Aren't these lesser contacts with the Russians than has been uncovered with the Podestas? Why are they not getting investigated? Oh yeah. Your pal Mueller who has a list of failed prosecutions a mile long and has cost you and I over $100 million in settlements with his victims is going to get this one right.

Is that why he hired him to run major sections of his campaign?

Ask your buddies Sessions and Trump.  Donny loves to talk a good game about locking her up.  When it really counts, he's a fart in the wind.

Tony Podesta wasn't associated with the Trump or Clinton campaign.  Sessions could investigate without conflict or recusal.

Manafort requests Virginia trial be moved, citing media coverage

By Jacqueline Thomsen - 07/06/18 08:44 PM EDT

Former Trump campaign head Paul Manafort is requesting that his trial be moved from Alexandria, Virginia to Roanoke, Virginia, over concerns that widespread media coverage of the allegations against him may have biased the juror pool.

Manafort’s attorneys made the request in a filing for his trial in the U.S. District Court in Alexandria on Friday, arguing that a change of venue is necessary for his Sixth Amendment right to trial by an impartial jury.

The court document notes that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia has “dominated the news cycle in the United States” and that “a significant portion of the media coverage has focused on Mr. Manafort.”

Mueller alleges that bank executive helped Manafort obtain loans while trying to get Trump campaign role

By Jacqueline Thomsen - 07/06/18 07:58 PM EDT

Special counsel Robert Mueller will present evidence that a bank executive allegedly helped former Trump campaign head Paul Manafort obtain more than $6 million in loans while that executive tried to land a position in the Trump campaign.

Prosecutors for Mueller revealed the plans in a filing Friday for Manafort’s trial on fraud charges in Virginia that will begin later this month. According to the filings, a senior executive at “Lender D” — an unnamed bank — approved Manafort’s loan applications.

The executive “sought the defendant’s assistance to obtain a position advising the Trump campaign (which he obtained) and later in the administration of President Trump (which he did not obtain),” the filing reads.

This story has been previously reported.  The 'Lender D' is Stephen Calk, who wanted to be Army Secretary.
