The White House in an announcement on Friday said North Korea remains an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the United States despite President Trump's assertion last week that Pyongyang “is no longer a nuclear threat.”

The Trump administration on Friday issued a routine notice to Congress describing the threat as reasoning for keeping sanctions in place on North Korea.

“The existence and risk of proliferation of weapons-usable fissile material on the Korean Peninsula and the actions and policies of the Government of North Korea continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States,” the notice read.

Still waiting for people to realize “unusual and extraordinary threat” and “is no longer a nuclear threat” don’t square with each other.

Apparently you missed that this was to keep the sanctions in place.

I didn’t and it still doesn’t cover the ridiculous tweet.  It was well known the sanctions would remain in place until verifiable denuclearization took place.  Until that does, they remain a threat.  To say otherwise is both irresponsible and idiotic.

It seems as though this Administration is having increasing trouble keeping their stories straight.

They don't stay in place without this statement.  So your point is they are in place so we don't need this is nonsensical.

Yes, it was a silly tweet.

Yes, I still think Trump's doing a good job overall, am happy he's president and support his effort to denuclearize the Korean peninsula.

Next.

Chaos.

It's what Trump creates around himself to mask the fact that all his assigned attributes from the adoring mobs are just ether.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Sure.  Remember what a threat Germany was in June, 1945?

Yes, I realize that.

So what?  As long as the sanctions actually remain in place -- which is exactly what just happened -- it was just lip service by Trump to try to get negotiations that had gone nowhere in decades to move along.  If it doesn't work, we've lost nothing.

Whether people care to admit it or not, his tweets aren't just throwaway statements, like when he was a private citizen.  They're record and in some cases, policy.  If credibility and the loss of it aren't important, that's fine - just say so.

It's all about context;

Pretty unbelievable that even though great strides have been made in a troubling situation, there are still those trying to nitpick this or that.

Sanctions would be off, if NK was totally denuclearized. We do not have that. What was Trump suppose to tweet? NK is not denuclearized? There's a context.

True and plenty of people here just stand there, look it in the eye, then deny it.  The president is a fantastic role model for it.

Yes.  The CONTEXT of what Trump tweeted after his "historic" 'Main Event" with himself in the center ring was:

NORTH KOREA NO LONGER A NUCLEAR THREAT

Pretty unbelievable that even though great strides have been made in a troubling situation, there are still those trying to nitpick this or that.

Because Conservatives who still have principles they have not discarded for a cult of personality do not grade intentions and emotional pap, as demanded.  We grade RESULTS.

But not liberals.  And not Trump populists.  Together they grade style over substance, intentions over actual achievements.

It's all about the show and the feeling that the show can generate to create a myth and lie.
