I don't average Americans are paying all that much attention, nor are people all that inclined to believe the "HOW DARE YOU SIR" manufactured outrage of the MSM.

I've been barely paying attention to this story and I haven't heard any chatter out amongst the "normies" either about it.

Believing that average Americans care about this is just "bubble thinking" IMO.

Most people are just fed up period with both sides.

I'm with Corey. I dismiss this story, especially after we had the Left manufacture that picture of the kid in a cage this week.

At first this story seemed outrageous and I was upset.  I think it was a very unprofessional and cold, ugly thing to say.  What upsets me even more is that the story came from Mexican official.  The girl and her twin brother were separated from the mother the official said.  He also said the father was a legal resident in the US just 60 miles from the border.  Our government said they were still looking into the father.

Our government was doing the right thing.  It is unclear to me why a mother would take a special need child on a dangerous journey when the father is a legal resident.   It seems they should have been able to go through legal channels to get the family together.  I think there is more to the story.

Secondly this resulted in the Mexican official condemning US policy and El Salvador also picked up on it and issued statements of inhumane treatment.  Neither one should talk if their countries are so dangerous that people must leave them.

In addition based on Mexico's immigration laws they have no room to criticize

So this is liberal hog wash.

Of course it's hog wash.  Leftist propaganda usuallyalways is.

Whipping out these antidotes is much like calling opponents Nazis - the left means to stifle the debate and they've been successful for way too long. Further they're insincere and cynical - they don't give a rip about any kid they can't use to advance their agenda.

So the callous response is totally understandable.

There's gotta be some way to respond between bowing one's head in silence and woop woop though.

I was thinking about that as I was watching.  Assuming that I had been smart enough to not say "whomp whomp" I think I would have tried to take back the moral high ground emotions.  Yell right back at him:  "How dare you let all of these people lose on our citizens, how dare you allow the crimes that are being committed, how dare you use children to make political points....etc."  At a minimum, it would have devolved into a shouting match with no side being the winner, at best, it would have caused viewers to have to think about the issue.

Most people are just fed up period with both sides.

If you read the comments sections at Yahoo on these kind of stories... about 85-90% of the comments know exactly what the left is up to here and they voice that anti-left sentiment quite clearly.  I keep expecting Yahoo to do away with their comments section just like msn.com did.  Can't have that many people voicing dissent of that leftist agenda.  Too much free speech and all.

Well let's find out.  My question is why is this guy not the Chief of Staff?

Well it does appear that Trump offered him a new job.

Quote
Four knowledgeable sources in and outside of the White House tell The Daily Beast that Lewandowski turned down what Trump had floated, in part because of ego. Trump had asked if he wanted a job that would place him in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, across the way from the West Wing, sources in and outside the administration say.

According to two people who spoke with Lewandowski, he “strongly” considered taking the gig, in hopes of getting to serve Trump in an official capacity once more. However, he came to the conclusion that the job wasn’t senior enough, telling friends that it was “beneath him.”

I doubt they'll touch him now after this brain dead comment.

But hey on the bright side...Fox News isn't phased by his crass comment...he was on there bloviating as usual this morning.

Yeah, I agree we don't say womp womp.  Ridiculous, and as I said cold, ugly and unprofessional.  It seems to me he shouldn't have even said anything without knowing the story.  But I have to add that I think it is wrong for a Mexican official to be spreading rhetoric.  If there are specific cases they should be working through their consulate with our government to resolve case by case.  But,...........they have announced that parents are being separated.  Anyone coming knows exactly what can happen.

Yes, and most normal viewers would come down on the side of their own self interest. A slam dunk.

I think that would be wrong.  Congress needs to fix it.

Yes, but a congress with a R majority needs to fix it.  If the Ds win big in November, they will fix us.

It would be a big effing mistake. But if he does it he'd better take advantage of all the emoting the dims & media have ginned up, make the most of it and get something actually useful to the issue done at the same time.

Well, let’s not pretend this was unforseeable.  Back in January, the president announced he would be backing incumbents for the midterms, even though we had witnessed their repeated failures and can-kicking for years.  Many of the worst offenders are on their way out the door anyway and uninterested in doing anything, much less the right thing.  At some point, a complete housecleaning is in order, unless we wish to remain masochistic dupes.

Here’s more proof they’re only interested in half measures and doing as little as possible.

Trump backs narrow bill halting family separations: official

The House is set to vote Thursday on both immigration bills, which contain many of the priorities Trump laid out last fall. It’s unclear, however, if those measures can pass the House, because Democrats and some Republicans oppose language that would reduce the number of immigrants who are able to enter the U.S.

“We’re trying to pass this legislation right now,” Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told reporters Wednesday when asked if he would back stand-alone legislation. “When other situations arise … we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”

Especially Miller, since even if he’s composed and on point, he suffers from severe RAF.

The Virtue Signaling was strong on that one.

I shut up a liberal friend on FB on this narrative by asking for data. She was completely silenced. When I brought up Obama doing it, she was all "We need to quit blaming and finger-pointing". Wrong answer considering she was blaming and finger-pointing at Trump and that was noted by several people. Busted.
They are losing the narrative because people are slowly calming down and starting to think.

Facebook was on fire today with people disgusted by this overblown rhetoric about 'oh, the children.'

I think it's beginning to backfire.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/lewandowski-on-girl-with-down-syndrome-separated-from-mother-womp-womp

Former Trump campaign chief Corey Lewandowski dismissed the story of a disabled girl separated from her mother as a result of the Trump administration’s family-separation policy at the souther border. “Womp womp,” Lewandowski said on Fox News in response to Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas mentioned that a 10-year-old girl with Down Syndrome was taken from her mother. “How dare you. How absolutely dare you, sir,” Petkanas said in response. Lewandowski justified the policy by saying it was the necessary result of illegal border crossings.

The Rats and their media sluts lost the second they violated Godwins Law.

The question now is will the GOP be stampeded into doing something dumb. A year ago I would've been more worried the GOP would've dove into something really stupid. Still a bit concerned but since the GOP leadership seems to agree with Chuck Schumer that Trump should deal with it all by his lonesome I'm now not nearly as much.

This compassion was missing with Kate Steinle and countless others including the American worker.

It's a scary thought about how "progressive" the US was under Obama and we could have had more of that.  The whole US could be demographically changed just like California. Arguably, we are headed that way, it just won't take shape for decades.
