Prosecutors charged that he and a partner, Konstantin Kilimnik, may have contacted European witnesses to ask them to tell jurors in Manafort’s upcoming trial that lobbying work they did together was confined only to Europe and did not take place inside the U.S.

I don't think it get's thrown out, but it does give the defense a huge advantage that the Prosecutor was corrupt and out of bounds.

To be realistic about this, Manafort has always been dirty. The whole Manafort/Atwater/Stone partnership used to be the face of corrupt, lobbyist driven, do anything to win, politics. Often the right likes to overlook their own slime to keep their voters focused on the slime on the left (and vice versa).

People think there is one 'swamp' and it is them versus us, but in reality, there have always been multiple swamps fighting each other. And the stakes have always been huge.

For control of the Republican Party, it generally has been a fight between the DC Powerbrokers and the NYC Money Establishment (especially from the 60s-80s). The latter was considered the most corrupt in the party and was pretty much run by the Manafort/Atwater/Stone partnership.

Much of this changed in the 90s with the boom of the 'Christian Coalition' with Pat Robertson rallying what we would call the unrepresented, and the NYC Establishment saw this and cozied up to this group as they saw power in numbers. They helped frame it as 'us versus them' but they were always part of 'them'.

But the game really never changed. There are many, many swamps and many 'establishment' circles all fighting each other.

Muller certainly could be lying, but that's a big thing to lie about as it has evidence behind it. But I wouldn't put it past him.

However, at the same time, it is also in Manafort's MO so I wouldn't put that past him either.

The judge accepted the evidence as sufficient.  So yeah, it pretty much happened.  Manafort is a dirty thug, get used to it.

However, at the same time, it is also in Manafort's MO so I wouldn't put that past him either.

Mueller has a long history of lying to make his case. Over a $100 million in taxpayer cash payouts to his victims prove it. We also have recent reviews of his current practices by Judges that show that he is corrupting the system to the point stuff is being thrown out.

Stupid Bobby has less credibility than Manafart. Why believe anything he and his hacks claim at this point?

Well said. Today, a guy like Willie Sutton doesn't have to rob banks. "Public Service" is an easier way to acquire wealth.

Not really. This is bigger than partisanship because most of these same people don't give a crap about partisan values, they are after power. Partisanship is the game they push to the masses to get them focusing on one game and ignoring the game they are playing.

Scooter Libby redux. Manafort's crime is really just being Republican and being in anyway associated with Trump.
The Libs have already said openly that they would throw all of us in jail if they could. Remember Lois Lerner and all the legal crap she did to Tea Party members. Liberals play dirty.

Oh for f**k’s sake.  The people Manafort attempted to contact knew it was wrong, likely suspected he was under surveillance, didn’t want to be implicated, and brought the information to the feds.


According to the filing, the government contends that after the superseding indictment was filed in February, Manafort and Person A repeatedly attempted to contact D1 and D2. On one occasion, prosecutors said that Manafort used an encrypted messaging application to send D1 an article about the Hapsburg group, and then wrote, "We should talk. I have made clear that they worked in Europe." But D1 told a federal investigator that he thought Manafort was trying to "suborn perjury" because D1 knew the Hapsburg group worked in the United States, according to the filing.

The government wrote that Person A contacted D2 to communicate that Manafort was trying to reach D1, and also tried to contact D1 — it "would strain credulity to suggest that Person A" made those contacts without Manafort's approval, prosecutors said. D2 also believed the communications were aimed at influencing testimony, and that Manafort and Person A were hoping D1 and D2 would communicate the message to members of the Hapsburg group that, if asked, they should say their work was in Europe, they said.

We know from other filings that Person A is Konstantin Kilimnik.  An unredacted filing from the other day shows that D1 and D2 were also named - Alan Friedman and Eckart Sager.
