Trey Gowdy hammers FBI director's response to IG report: 'I'm sorry, you're wrong'

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., criticized Christopher Wray's response to the inspector general report on the FBI's handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, released Thursday.

Gowdy said on Fox News Thursday evening that Wray's assertion that the report will not have lasting consequences for the bureau is flat-out "wrong."

"Chris Wray, I'm sorry, you're wrong," the House Oversight chairman stated. "There are consequences."

"The consequences are that your fellow citizens question whether or not they can have confidence in the world's premier law enforcement agency, and that's coming from someone who has defended them a lot throughout his career. This was a bitterly disappointing report," he continued.

Earlier in his appearance, Gowdy noted "it is for the FBI and DOJ, two institutions of our country desperately needs and we desperately have to have confidence in them."

"This level of bias and animus, not only did they want to stop the Trump campaign but he wanted to stop the Trump presidency, Peter Strzok," Gowdy continued.

He explained that Strzok was "the FBI agent who was on Hillary Clinton's investigation and arguably the lead Russia investigator not only wanted to stop his campaign, but once he won, got on the Mueller probe because he wanted to impeach him."

"That is a level of animus and bias that everyone should reject."

It's over!  This Republic I mean.  It was a noble idea but it ultimately failed due to the gross indifference of it's citizens.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

And yet.... the IG report stated there was no evidence of bias.  Odd, that Gowdy is taking this stance.... now.

Gowdy is giving me whiplash.  I think he must be bi-polar or something.

Ah who cares

It is very difficult for me to witness the death of the country many of my ancestors and,in fact, myself have fought and bled for.

I hear ya but that's where we are.

And that's why I decided to support Trump.  He is the only one in power who appears to be fighting it.

Maybe he's feeling burned.

It's just irresponsible how Gowdy waited for the investigation results to condemn the FBI.

The only defense I have for America's citizens is the gross and massive corruption of its leadership and media are simply overwhelming.

Where does one begin to demand justice in all of this?

So? What's Gowdy going to do other than whine like a little girl?

So, now that Comey and McCabe are out and we have a group heading for disciplinary review, it seems the general consensus is the biggest problems left in the DOJ are Sessions, Rosenstein, and Wray.  Anyone care to guess the common denominator?

An early supporter of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, Sessions was nominated by Trump for the post of U.S. Attorney General.

President Donald Trump nominated Rosenstein to serve as Deputy Attorney General for the United States Department of Justice on February 1, 2017.

On June 7, 2017, President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Wray to be the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, replacing James Comey, who was dismissed by Trump on May 9, 2017.

I feel ya. As imperfect as some say he is, Trump appears to understand what’s at stake.
