Apparently our resident Leftist's lobbying efforts to turn an inalienable Right into a government-granted licensed privilege, have enjoined enough idiots in Congress to actually make a stab at this.

Like I said - they do this, I will not comply and they will have to arm up their agents and kill an awful lot of us gun owners to try and force compliance.

At which time, it's war and game on.

Quote
Democrats in the House and Senate are pushing firearm licensing and registration requirements.

The push is contained in legislation titled, “Blair Holt Firearm Owner Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2018.” It is being sponsored by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) and Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).

The text of the legislation says, “To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes.” The phrase “certain firearms” refers to “a handgun; or a semiautomatic rifle that is capable of accepting a detachable ammunition feeding device.”

The legislation defines and “ammunition feeding device” as a device “capable of being detached from a semiautomatic rifle; and has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition.”

In order to legally possess semiautomatic handguns or rifles a citizen would have to possess a “firearm owner license” or a “state firearm license.”

Exemptions to the requirements include “a Federal employee who is required to carry a qualifying firearm in the capacity of that individual as a Federal employee while engaged in the performance of official duties.” In other words, the Capitol Police and other security personnel who protect Congress would not have to submit to the requirement placed upon commoners.

Bill Nelson is pushing the same thing in the Senate with the  Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act, a bill that will require the federal government to establish a “searchable, computerized database” of all records pertaining to the sale, importation, production, or shipment of firearms.

Can't imagine how any of this will lead to confiscation

Ironic that the Defense Minister for the Black Panthers in the 60's...a very violent organization if there ever was one...is now wanting to disarm everyone.

Actually, I was thinking that since the Black Panthers were the back of the bus faction of the Communist "New Left" along with outfits like the SDS and the Weathermen, they just want to do what most wannabe dictators do, and enslave us all.

Which these days is part and parcel of the Democrat Party platform.

No, he doesn't want to disarm everyone, just the law abiding citizen types.

Good point.  If he and the other gun grabbers were really concerned with gun violence and reducing it...they wouldn't continue to try and punish law abiding citizens and deal with the real sources.

Just ask the residents of Deerfield, IL - who refused to believe their government will confiscate their guns - but today - is the day that very thing is happening.

Quote

Reminder to Deerfield residents: You have until midnight tonight to turn in your rifles and shotguns

Gun owners in Deerfield, IL are supposed to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, destroy them, or get them out of town if they don't want to be criminals.  But "nobody wants to take your guns", right?

The ordinance enacted April 2 by the Deerfield Village Board gives residents until June 13 to turn in any guns that fit the village’s definition of assault weapons, remove them from the village or modify the guns so they’re no longer considered assault weapons. The ordinance empowers the town’s police chief to confiscate the assault weapons of anyone charged under the ordinance.

Owners found in violation can be fined up to $1,000 a day, according to the ordinance.

I don't believe this something you would have to do if you want to sell a car.
Yet, cars are more deadly than firearms.
The number aren't even close.

Good timing, right before elections so the public will know who is on the side of the 2nd Amendment.

I think this is all part of the bloo wave nonsense.
Standard playbook stuff.
Exploit event(s) with intensive media barrage especially appealing to the emotions of the highly emotional (whaddya think they have been breeding snowflakes for, anyway?) , offer (totalitarian) solution to the evils of the world, and ride the teardrops into power.

Hopefully the tide goes out on the 'Blue Wave' long before it reaches these shores.
