Army commander approves no prison time for Bergdahl
By Rick Moran

Army Gen. Robert Abrams, head of U.S. Army Forces Command has endorsed the decision of the court martial board who decided not to sentence Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl to prison for abandoning his post in time of war.

Army Times:

Bergdahl was reduced in rank from sergeant to private and ordered to forfeit $1,000 a month in pay for 10 months. The judge also gave him a dishonorable discharge.

The fine and rank reduction were effective two weeks after the judge’s sentence was delivered. The case is now referred to the Army Court of Criminal Appeals at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, which automatically reviews any punitive discharges.

Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban and held for five years.

All because his family got that photo op with Obama made Bergdahl untouchable.     If any other POTUS had been in charge, he would have faced the firing squad.

meanwhile he has all his back pay

I really really don't get this decision.

If I had the address of my last battalion commander, I'd send him a big FU letter for an incident over 34 years ago.

He was the HQs Battalion Cdr at Fort Bliss, I was one of his battery commanders. His leadership style would be a great fit under President Trump, I'm sure he'd wear a MAGA hat instead of the regulation headgear.

He didn't appreciate that I gave a battery level Article 15 to one of my soldiers who got drunk and broke a barracks window over a weekend, and I administered it on Monday afternoon. Before COB I was called on the carpet, because he wanted to do a field level Article 15, and ruin the kid's prospects for GI bill benefits when his enlistment ended in a couple of months.

I'd been in command about a year, and had never had problems with the young soldier. To think that he would receive about the same punishment as Bergdahl under that a$$hat reinforces the wisdom of my actions.

I really really don't get this decision.

The Deep State still controls the military, this was about protecting Obama's legacy.
