June 3 (UPI) -- A short-fin male pilot whale died in southern Thailand after swallowing more than 17 of plastic bags and packaging.

Veterinarians removed more than 80 plastic bags from the whale's stomach, said Jatuporn Burutpat, director-general to Thailand's Department of Marine and Coastal Resources in a CNN report.

The whale, which weighed about 1,100 pounds and was nearly 15 feet long, died Friday afternoon.

One doesn't have to be a tree hugger, there really is a problem with all of the plastic being found in the ocean. I saw some other story saying tons and tons are making their way there.

There seems to be a similar story from Spain about a whale also.

BTW, most people don't realize that most of the plastic in the oceans comes from six Asian countries, not us.

They clearly aren't making their plastic bags correctly.  80 bags should not weight 17 lbs.

Not just the ocean, but rivers and lakes too.

One of our closest friend works for reclamation of the Mississippi River, and what they find in it is absolutely disgusting.

Sumthin' tells me that the amount of waste and ordinary garbage being dumped into the ocean by China (along with a few other countries o'er that way) rivals the amount of air pollution being generated by same...
