Poland offers $2 billion for a U.S. base

The Polish government wants a United States military base in Poland and is willing to pay our government $2 billion for one. That's a pittance but it sure beats the deal we get elsewhere defending NATO countries.

The pitch from Poland is simple: we our paying our fair share of NATO defense, and we are closer to the front than Germany.

"Poland is one of just five NATO members to spend at least two percent of its GDP on defense. The Government of Poland understands that spending on NATO security needs to be a shared burden amongst the organization’s member states and Poland wants to do its part to enhance Europe’s security and protect the Eastern Flank. Poland welcomes the United States’ steadfast support for maintaining the country’s safety, security, and sovereignty and is facilitating rotational deployments of U.S. forces throughout the country," the proposal said.

Poland Willing to Pay for Permanent US Military Presence
May 28, 2018

Polish news portal Onet has obtained a proposal drawn up by the country’s defence ministry which appears to offer the United States 2 billion US dollars towards setting up a permanent military base on Polish territory. The proposal, which will anger Russia, comes a month before NATO leaders meet at a summit in Brussels, and is likely to drive a further wedge between Poland and Germany, which favours taking a less aggressive stance towards Russia.

“This proposal outlines the clear and present need for a permanent US armoured division deployed in Poland,” states the document. “Poland is committed to providing significant support that may reach 1.5–2 billion US dollars to establish joint military installations and providing for more flexible movement of US forces. Together, the United States and Poland can build an even stronger bond – one which guarantees the safety, security and freedom of its people for generations to come.”

Poland Pushes For Permanent US Military Base, Offers Up To $2B
By Arathi M @ArathiMini 05/28/18 AT 5:16 AM

In order to have a permanent United States’ military presence in the country, Poland is willing to put in as much as $2 billion, a defense military proposal by the latter claimed.

The proposal comes a month before the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit begins in Brussels, and is another push in Poland’s desire to have American troops in the country. Poland has expressed this need since its entry into NATO in 1999; however, the current urgency is due to Russia’s annexation of the Crimea region.

“Following Russian invasions in Georgia and Ukraine, countries in Central and Eastern Europe are concerned that they are next in Moscow’s crosshairs,” the public document stated.

We have better support from former East Bloc countries than we do from a country with a former East Bloc Stasi leader in Germany.

Pack up every serviceman and piece of equipment currently based in Germany, and move 'em over to Poland.

No use trying to protect Duetschland any longer -- they are doing themselves in by way of islam.

The Poles want freedom.
Let's help them preserve what they have.

Unlike the Germans, who seem intent on tossing their nation away...

Looks like they are already seeking a permanent US troop presence.

Poland seeks permanent US troop presence, offers financing
    By The Associated Press
WARSAW, Poland — May 28, 2018, 11:01 AM ET

Poland's defense minister said Monday that he has held talks with U.S. officials about having thousands of American troops permanently stationed as a deterrent in Poland.

Poland is concerned for its own and the region's security following Russia's annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, its support for separatists in eastern Ukraine and other steps seen as hostile.

Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said he recently held talks in Washington about having a permanent presence of U.S. troops in Poland, where they are currently on a rotational, temporary, though open-ended mission.
