Soccer heading -- not collisions -- cognitively impairs players

Date:
    April 24, 2018
Source:
    Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Summary:
Worse cognitive function in soccer players stems mainly from frequent ball heading rather than unintentional head impacts due to collisions, researchers have found. The findings suggest that efforts to reduce long-term brain injuries may be focusing too narrowly on preventing accidental head collisions.

The only real answer to the prevention of chronic traumatic encephalopathy is to Outlaw all contact sports.

In last nights hockey game between Boston and Toronto a guy took a slap shot to the face.   He was lucky that the shooter didn't hit it square so it was only probably going 70-80mph.   That guy can shoot it at 108mph.

Anyway he took the puck to the face, just to the left of his nose above his mouth.   There was blood, he fell to the ice and was helped off.

15 mins later he was back on the ice with stitches and a swollen face.

Fools mock, tongues wag, babies cry and goats bleat.
