Trump VA pick allegedly gave 'large supply' of Percocet to military staff member
By Brett Samuels - 04/25/18 04:32 PM EDT

Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, President Trump’s pick for Secretary of Veterans Affairs, allegedly had "reckless" prescribing practices and once gave out a large supply of the opioid painkiller Percocet to a White House military staff member.

The White House medical staff was "thrown into a panic" when it could not account for missing supply of the drug.

It later discovered Jackson had supplied a large amount to a staffer and had private stocks of controlled substances, according to a report of allegations compiled by staff for Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), the top Democrat on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

This is becoming a real mess.  Just yesterday, a WH source told news outlets Jackson has "never even been the subject of an Inspector General review and he will certainly not be railroaded by a bitter ex-colleague who was removed from his job.”

https://www.axios.com/ronny-jackson-inspector-general-report-ae767a86-e6e7-4c83-ac5d-587f10e3f77c.html

Later, we learned there was, in fact, an IG review of the reports about the command structure problems in the White House medical unit.

Not a single one of the controlled substances that he dispensed ought to be considered lightly.
All can or may have serious side effects.

Amazing how none of this cropped up when he was working for Obama.

So this fat worthless slob Tester writes up some fraud paper full of unfounded allegations that cover everything from drug dealing to alcoholism and the Leftist filth at The Hill dutifully reports it like it is real.

Business as usual from the Rat party.

I love watching all of the critics attack Republicans over this nomination, even though Jackson was originally vetted, approved and employed by the 0bama administration.  0bama wrote glowing recommendations of Jackson.  Why wouldn't have the Trump admin have thought he was a good hire?

Oh, and none of the accusations have been pursued to determine whether they are true or not.

Forget the unsubstantiated stuff.  The fact is, an IG report from 2012 existed and concluded both Jackson and Kuhlman were probably not suited to run the small organization of the White House Medical Unit.  Why would he be able to make the quantum leap to handle one of the largest organizations in government?

IIRC it was Jackson that asked for the IG report in the first place.

AP found it and reported on it last night, so it's still new to us.  However, it should have been accessible to the administration when considering the appointment.

@mystery-ak

I heard today all white house meds were properly accounted for.
Also, a "large number" to one person is misleading.
For one month, my count of opioid pills is 60.  It is easy for someone to to say, "My God! 60 Pills!  Lock up the doctor!  Unfortunately, we are headed to that with almost any pill.  This white house doc is the regular doctor for some in the White House and he may give someone a month of pills.  Maybe someone needs three pills of something a day.  That is 90 pills a month!

I get blood pressure pills, three months at a time, that is 90 pills.  I take "another" blood pressure pill, also three months at a time, that is another 90 pills.  180 pills!

Now, here is the strange thing:  For some reason, all my 190 blood pressure pills for three months cost me NOTHING.  For some reason, my insurance pays the total cost.  I pay zero extra.

I keep thinking one day I am going to get a bill for one million dollars for all those pills.

President Donald Trump is praising Ronny Jackson, who has just announced he will withdraw from consideration as Veterans Affairs secretary. Trump says there will be consequences for the Democratic senator who led the charge against Jackson.

*******************************

Trump says he has an idea for a replacement nominee, adding it will be "someone with political capability."

Ronny Jackson withdraws as veterans affairs secretary nominee
The White House physician calls the allegations of over-prescribing pills and drunken behavior 'completely false and fabricated.'

Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson has withdrawn his nomination to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs amid damaging allegations that he created a toxic work environment, drunkenly wrecked a car and maintained poor prescription records while serving in the federal government.

“While I will forever be grateful for the trust and confidence President Trump has placed in me by giving me this opportunity, I am regretfully withdrawing my nomination to be Secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs,” Jackson said in a statement on Thursday morning.

He added, “The allegations against me are completely false and fabricated. If they had any merit, I would not have been selected, promoted and entrusted to serve in such a sensitive and important role as physician to three presidents over the past 12 years.”

Jackson, who served as White House physician under Barack Obama and now Donald Trump, was tapped last month to replace Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin, who left the Trump administration after clashing with officials. ... Politico

If anyone is interested.........Percoset is an opioid.   Ambien is a cotrolled substance.  As is the upper he gave out to 'wake up'.   Does this go on in your home?   In your office?   At your school?
Doubtful that 90 Percoset tablets would be legally prescribed for anyone.  Usually these are prescribed for several days at a time.

The  IG report was handed to the media yesterday.  Bypassing the committee.   This was an underhanded way of forcing Doctor Ronnie out.

According to people I know who use the VA for medical care it is quite common for the VA to throw pills at people.  Gobs and gobs of pills.

Although now apparently the pills come in individual shipments and not in one big box.

Have you ever in your life gotten separate prescriptions for each day you took the same drug?  I have never heard or seen of such a thing.  I have had doctors hand out samples of drugs quite frequently for a small use.

So to sum up the answer to how often can you take Percocet, it’s up to 12 tablets in a 24-hour period if you’re taking Percocet 2.5 mg or 5 mg. Then it goes down eight tablets and six tablets, depending on the strength of the Percocet you’re taking.
As you can see 90 tablets  is not a legally or medically doubtful size of a prescription, in fact it may be a perfectly reasonable quantity for one week.

Let's look a Tramadol that really dangerous imitation opioid.

@thackney
I just went to my quarterly pain management check up and asked the PA about  medicaire not covering pain meds and the desire of some to limit prescriptions to a 7 day period, they weren't aware of any of this but were shocked at what limiting the prescriptions would do to the time taken away from patients and being forced into documentation, if I recall correctly her response was 'Insanity'.

That is how my doc got my per pill cost for Viagra down to a few bucks.

Percocet is for girls.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.
