North Korea 'halts missile and nuclear tests', says Kim Jong-un

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has said his country will suspend all missile tests and shut down a nuclear test site, state media say.

"From April 21, North Korea will stop nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles," the Korean Central News Agency said.

Mr Kim's decision comes a week before he is due to meet his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in.

North Korea has defied international sanctions over its weapons programme.

In November, it said it had successfully tested a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile that could reach the whole of the continental United States.

The test drew swift international condemnation. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said Pyongyang had shown "complete disregard for the united view of the international community".

It’s definitely an encouraging first step but in order to truly be successful, I think North Korea has got to really “denuke” and then open up the entire country for inspections.  Until then, a temporary suspension of nuclear testing is fairly meaningless IMO.

We haven't been this far since 1953.  But the proof will be in the pudding.  If there is any.

They've been a contract player for Iran, since the early 2000s.  It's no coincidence NK is now 'shutting down' their nuclear program as the date Trump is expected to withdraw from the Iran deal approaches.  Once it's de-certified, Iran will pick up where NK left off through a shell game of tech exchange.

If, despite signed agreements, Kim is found to have tested/sold hi-grade uranium to a 3rd party?  Would that be President Trump's fault?
