 Trump letting Haley take heat despite signing off on sanctions

Three administration officials say the president signed off on a package of punitive measures but changed course in the wake of Friday's Syria strikes.

President Donald Trump gave approval last week for rolling out airstrikes in Syria as well as new sanctions on Russia, according to three senior administration officials — but U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley wasn’t briefed on changes to the sanctions plan before announcing it Sunday on national television.

The episode marks the latest instance of members of Trump’s team appearing out of sync with one another or with the president on foreign affairs.

“Russia sanctions were a part of the agreed-upon plan going into the strike and going into the weekend,” said a senior administration official. “As recently as Saturday, that was reconfirmed as part of the plan.”

And Larry Kudlow has now apologized for his comments claiming she may have been confused:

"White House chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow apologized to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley Tuesday for telling reporters she was confused about possible new sanctions on Russia.

Mr. Kudlow called Ms. Haley to say he was “totally wrong” and he didn’t have complete information."

Give me an GD break. We have another no sources article from the US Pravda trying to start a fight where there is none. Kudlow is the one here who keeps saying shit and retracting it, not Haley. On top of that Haley doesn't need backing up. She seems quite competent to handle her own shit.

This is confusing.  Did Trump sign off on sanctions or didn't he?  If he signed off and then backed off ... then Haley was just not current with what Trump was doing at that (any given) moment.  I can't imagine how anyone could keep up with it.....so there's nothing to 'take heat' over.

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The new White House economic adviser apologized Tuesday to U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley after suggesting she was suffering from "momentary confusion" when she announced over the weekend that new sanctions against Russia were imminent.

Haley had fired back at Larry Kudlow, saying, "With all due respect, I don't get confused."
