America Unites to Support Former First Lady Barbara Bush

In today’s tumultuous political climate, it may sometimes seem as if there are few things that unite us as a country.

Earlier today, however, partisan divisions fell by the wayside after the office of George H.W. Bush released a statement that former First Lady Barbara Bush’s health is failing and that she will not seek further treatment.

In response, there was an outpouring of support for the former First Lady from both sides of the aisle:

Nancy Pelosi@NancyPelosi

As always, Barbara Bush is a comfort to her friends & family teaching us all how to live full of faith, love & humor. Praying that she is comfortable & send love to President Bush & their family.

Nikki Haley@nikkihaley

Prayers going up for a woman of great faith, great strength, and an unwavering love of country. Our country is better because of former First Lady Barbara Bush ❤️🇺🇸

Chelsea Clinton@ChelseaClinton

Keeping Barbara Bush and her family in my heart and prayers. I will never forget how kind she was to me on every occasion we met, and how fondly the White House staff always spoke of her.

At a time like this, classy people put aside differences and offer encouragement and support.  Or if they can't do that, they should just keep quiet.

Absolutely.  I wish we had more leaders like this wonderful couple.  George HW made mistakes but he wasn't mean or evil.

And to Barbara Bush, I say:  Good decision on staying out of the hospital.  I wish I hadn't taken my husband to the hospital and had let him die at home.

We thought our mother, age 93, was a gonner early this year. Hospital emergency room, regular room, skilled nursing etc.

Doctor advised it was okay to take her home, for hospice healthcare. My younger sister is her full time caregiver. I visit twice per week.

My father died not from the cancer surgery, for which he was in the hospital. He died from infection which was contracted in the filthy disease ridden hospital.

So your family stand better chances of longer lives,, at your homes. In my lay person view.

Maybe Barbara has 19 lives like my mother.

Just found this on my news feed.

My worthless opinion:  If medical care is not going to restore my health or is just going to prolong my suffering or is not going to extend my life beyond a few days tops -- it's time to stop the machines, dope and what not, go home and wait for God to call me.

Seems to me Mrs. Bush made the right choice -- for herself.

Wasn't evil?   He was a globalist who pushed many policies which weakened America including the asset forfeiture policies which is being used to confiscate millions of dollars of property without cause or court oversight.

And so were/are Ted and Heidi Cruz... or so I was told during the 2016 campaign,

More Alex Jones conspiracy nonsense.

But as @Emjay said -- it's a subject for another thread, not this one.

FILE - In this June 6, 1964 file photo, George Bush, candidate for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, gets returns by phone at his headquarters in Houston as his wife Barbara, beams her pleasure at the news. Former first couple George and Barbara Bush’s relationship is a true love story, described by granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager as “remarkable.” They met at a Christmas dance. She was 17. He was 18. Two years later they were married. Now 73 years later, with Barbara Bush declining further medical care for health problems, they are the longest-married couple in presidential history. Wow. Good looking couple back then.

Married 72 years.  Not many in the limelight can say they stuck with their spouses anywhere near that long.

Not many marry young enough, and then live long enough for that.

She apparently married at age 19, and Judge moore wasn't around.

She has lived for 92 years and she will die with dignity, grace and surrounded by loved ones! What wonderful blessings!

I've always thought W strongly favored his mother.

I would have said so, too, before I saw the picture in question.  Apparently, W has resemblances to each of his parents.  Go figure.
