A nationally known gay rights attorney and green activist set himself on fire and burned to death in Prospect Park early Saturday in a bizarre ecological protest suicide.

The charred remains of David Buckel, 60, were discovered shortly after sunrise when firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the southwest corner of the sprawling Brooklyn park, police sources said.

A suicide note indicated Buckel used “fossil fuel” in the gruesome suicide as a metaphor for the self-destruction of the planet.

I’ve got to give this guy props. Whenever pro-aborts and greenies talk their population control, overcrowding Mother Earth bullshit I always say, “Ok, kill yourself or you’re just a poser.” This guy actually walks the walk. We should be holding him up as a shining example to others who believe as he does. If this guy can do it, so can you ( meaning the aforementioned pro-aborts and greenies)! Bingo! That is exactly what I thought too @GrouchoTex . He got some diagnosis that was terminal and he decided to go out as a Leftist hero. My guess is that he had nothing to lose by doing this.

Well, as @Freya said, it's a horrible way to go.

I'm not so sure about that. If it is done slowly, it would be horrible. But I read an article a long time ago that said burning to death as this guy did is really not so bad. It is not the fire that kills you. A person would essentially asphyxiate when suddenly in the middle of a roaring fire. And the person's sensory system would overload and shut down and would stop processing pain.
Apparently, according to the article (I still do not understand how they would know these things) but what they said was it all depends on how it is done. The bigger and more immediate the fire, the better it is for the person being burned. For example, if you were to jump into a pool of hot lava, you wouldn't feel a thing. Or at least, that is what the doctors theorize.
