What ever happened to Trump neckties? They're over, and so is most of his merchandising empire

Before he ran for office, Donald Trump made millions by selling his name to adorn other people’s products. There was Trump deodorant. Trump ties. Trump steaks. Trump underwear. Trump furniture. At one time, there was even a Trump-branded urine test.

Now, almost all of them are gone.

In 2015, Trump listed 19 companies that were paying him to produce or distribute Trump-branded consumer goods.

In recent weeks, only two said they are still selling Trump-branded goods. One is a Panamanian company selling Trump bed linens and home goods. The other is a Turkish company selling Trump furniture.

Of the rest, some Trump partners quit in reaction to campaign-trail rhetoric on immigrants and Muslims. Others said their licensing agreements had expired. Others said nothing beyond confirming that they’d stopped working with Trump. Their last Trump goods are now being sold off, often at a discount: One cologne is marked down from $42 to $9.99 for an ounce.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

They were pulled from the market, because people kept tripping on them.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

I'm thinking "market saturation."  Pretty much everybody who wants an extra-long tie or a MAGA hat already has one.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

That's pretty much it I think.  Even at his zenith, the Trump brand was only good for tertiary products that actually benefitted from being associated with the Trump name or needed the association to gain any recognition at all.  Outside of hotels and casinos that's an eclectic group.  Further, a large part of marketing cachet is an element of mystery or exclusivity.  With the guy's personal and professional life being blabbed by every outlet on the planet 24/7 there's really no mystery or exclusivity left to be had in the name.  Those that continue to believe that there is are riding the wave down.

There are obvious parallels in the political world. 88888cool.

@dfwgator

Actually, in a 2000 interview with Fortune he said that he would likely be the only man to run for president and make money from it.  He's getting a boost in income from visiting his properties as president.

Did you ever drink a Billy Beer?

Pure skunk piss but without the flavor.
