Hungary's strongman Viktor Orban wins third term in power

BUDAPEST, Hungary (Reuters) - Prime Minister Viktor Orban won a third straight term in power in Sunday elections after his anti-immigration campaign message secured a strong majority for his party in parliament, granting him two-thirds of seats based on preliminary results.

The rightwing nationalist prime minister projected himself as a savior of Hungary’s Christian culture against Muslim migration into Europe, an image which resonated with millions of voters, especially in rural areas.
 
“We have won, Hungary has won a great victory,” a jubilant Orban told a large crowd of cheering supporters near the Danube river in Budapest.

Globalist pearl-clutching over nationalist Viktor Orban's sweeping victory in Hungary election[/b]

If you judge Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his Fidesz party by their enemies, then their sweeping victory yesterday, winning a third term, was a triumph for good.  Reuters calls him a "strongman" in its report of his victory, a term usually reserved for undemocratic dictators.  The Associated Press settles for "conservative" as its headline adjective – no compliment in its lexicon, but accurate.  But the journalists are being outdone by globalist politicians in Western Europe.

My Hungarian fiancé – a bit of a Lefty – was following the election yesterday. She says Orban’s opposition claims electronic voting machines were tampered with.

I guess politics is the same every where you go. Go figure.

Virtually everybody in European politics is left of American cnservatism.

IOW while they might want secure borders against muslim invasion, they still support cradle-to-grave medical and retirement.

Yep, my betrothed has that mindset growing up under the soviets.

But all across Europe, they have had higher taxes, and more cradle-to-grave benefits, than Americans enjoy.

It is often noted that a "conservative" in Europe is not conservative, by American standards.

Churchill was booted from parliament, the minute the warwas won, so they could get back to labour party business as usual, e.g. big government.
