Israeli officials: U.S. must strike in Syria

The United States must attack the regime of Bashar Assad in Syria in response to the regime chemical gas strike on the Syrian town Douma that killed more than 70 people, Strategic Affairs and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said Sunday.

Speaking on Army Radio, Erdan, who is Netanyahu’s number two in Likud, said he hoped US military action against the Assad regime would be taken again, as it was when the regime used chemical weapons against its people in the past.

“The shocking attack shows the incredible international hypocrisy of the international community focusing on Israel confronting the terrorist organization Hamas that is sending civilians to our [border] fence, when dozens are being killed in Syria every day,” Erdan said. “It shows the need for strengthening the presence of Americans and other international forces, because without them the genocide we are seeing will only intensify.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a 'tense' phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to two White House officials.

The conversation revolved around Netanyahu's concerns that the U.S. will withdraw from Syria and allow Israel's enemies, Iran and its affiliate militias, to gain a further foothold in the neighboring country, said the officials.

Israel is a big boy now ... and has bombed Syria before.  If Israel is so aggrieved by the chemical attack let them fire up the IDF and do what they want done.

Don't tell us to do it for them.

Liberman signals Trump didn’t consult with Israel on Syria withdrawal

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Sunday said US President Donald Trump did not ask for Israel’s view before announcing his planned withdrawal of American troops from Syria, adding that the Jewish state will likely have to operate “alone” against its various enemies.

“President Trump didn’t ask me,” Liberman said when asked during an interview with Israel Radio about the US plan to leave Syria, despite Israeli fears of Iranian-backed terror groups encroaching on its northern border.”I wouldn’t presume to give advice that hasn’t been requested from me.”

“I always operate on the assumption that at the end of the day, Israel has to deal alone with both the northern threat and the southern threat,” Liberman answered, referring as well to simmering tensions in the Gaza Strip in Israel’s south.

I think it is -Israel-, NOT the United States, that should "strike in Syria". They've done it before. They probably have better intelligence on who and where to hit than we do.

It's in their neighborhood.
Let them "clean that rat hole out".
Perhaps with our assistance.
But not us, alone.
We should maintain a respectable distance unless (again) we need to aid and cooperate with Israel.
