I have read elsewhere that all humans have some Neanderthal DNA, except Africans.
Does input from Neanderthals and Denisovans make us more capable, or more able to survive various threats?
(My next door neighbor is currently undergoing stem cell therapy, for a serious type of cancer, after conventional chemo failed. He has 4 young children.)
DNA reserch may not ring your bell, but it is used in criminal justice, to convict or exhonerate. Also used in paternity cases.
But medicine is the truly big direction it is going, since there is huge finalcial potential.
As an exmple, what if we theorized what killed off the Denisovans and Neanderthals, and what DNA is in humans, that prevented us dying off, too? And things along those lines.
Why do people get cancer, cardio disease, dementia, etc.? What is the gene?
