Oprah's 'Wrinkle In Time' Movie Is A SJW Disaster Of Epic Proportions

The reviews for this movie (which I had no intention of seeing, given the trailers) are pretty scathing, even from liberal reviewers.  Seems they attempted to take the SJW Diversity bullshit and shove their morality into every line and character and scene in this flick.

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Is A Disastrous Adaptation Of The Book

Madeleine L’Engle’s classic young adult novel “A Wrinkle in Time” is the latest victim of diversity-deranged stunt casting in which no respect is paid to the race or sex of existing literary characters. But that’s only one reason why this frustrating fiasco is such an embarrassing failure. Director Ava DuVernay (“Selma”), who has no feel at all for the material, seems more interested in promoting colorblind multi-culturalism than producing an entertaining adaptation that is worthy of its much-beloved source.

...Teenage Meg Murry and her mother, both white like the rest of their family in the 1962 “A Wrinkle in Time” novel, are portrayed in this film version by black actresses Storm Reid and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Dad is played by Caucasian Chris Pine. Because Meg’s precocious younger brother Charles Wallace is played by Filipino-American Deric McCabe, this results in the absurdity of the character now being identified as adopted, presumably because it would be hard to believe he could be the product of Mbatha-Raw and Pine’s union. Two twin brothers from the book are missing entirely from the movie, which may be a blessing, considering that political correctness probably would have dictated they be played by a Native American dwarf and a disabled transsexual.

...“A Wrinkle in Time” is so unconvincing, uninvolving and unlikeable that expecting even small children to enjoy it seems cruelly condescending.

Looks like Ru Paul and a gang of Drag Queens got the gig to do the make-up and costumes.  That is creepy as hell.

This one is apparently so over-the-top with in-your-face Diversity and SJW pap, that even Leftist movie critics who are borderline Activists are cringing at it.

Because you know... inclusiveness and making things more like Black Panther in forcing everyone to see the world while wearing equality glasses.

I loved the story when I read it as a child, so I probably wouldn't see the movie even if it weren't a SJW movie.  Hollywood almost never improves upon the original story.

Looks like Ru Paul and a gang of Drag Queens got the gig to do the make-up and costumes.  That is creepy as hell.

Is it just me.... or does Oprah look particularly ugly in that pic?

Apparently it is a complete departure from what her character is supposed to look like and be in the book.  I think I read that her character is a witch in black cloak and pointy hat with a beak nose and long grey wiry hair.

I had to look it up on Imdb.  That Oprah character is supposed to be Mrs. Which.

Well, the fact that Oprah was dressed and made-up by drag queens in the role, referencing her as 'Which' is probably appropriate.

No big deal. Oprah has enough money she can afford to lose a few million making a hobby movie.

BTW,does anybody know if the "black residents only" housing development in central NC where Oprah owned a home still exists? I can't remember the exact deal at this late date,but either Oprah was an part owner that used her name to help sell lots,or she was given a lot and house there so the developers could use her name to convince wealthy racist blacks to buy in there.

It was reported that the only white people to be allowed in this gated community would be service workers,like repairmen and maids.

Critics are largely panning “A Wrinkle In Time,” and Director Ava DuVernay is not taking it well. According to her twitter feed, white journalists of either gender simply don’t understand her vision for the movie.

Vulture editor Kyle Buchanan pleased DuVernay, when he said in a tweet “one of the most subtle, resonant” threads in the film that he discovered after interviewing her was … the character Meg’s insecurity about her hair. Reminder: This is a film based on a Christian-inspired book about an epic battle between darkness and light. But according to DuVernay, Buchanan nailed it.  ...

The movie over-used special effects, and skipped so much of the source material that people had a hard time following the story. DuVernay is firmly planted in the belief that she is leading a crusade for young girls, especially young girls of color, by having made a movie full of hope and strong female characters. She did try to make this work, but by skipping the story of faith and God so very prevalent in Madeline L’Engle’s novel, she failed to create a cohesive narrative and the message didn’t land for most people.  ...  Rest of article at The Federalist

This was one of my alll time favorite children's books. I don't think any movie could hold a candle to it.

The only children's book I loved which I loved the movie too was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with Gene wilder.
