Dozens charged in alleged North County gang gun and drug networks

Kristina Davis

A longtime investigation into gang networks trafficking heroin, methamphetamine and guns throughout North County culminated Wednesday in indictments against 37 people — from street dealers to mid-level managers to cross-border smugglers, authorities said.

The illicit business occurred everywhere from shopping center parking lots to outside a methadone clinic to homes across the street from schools, said authorities.

Early Wednesday morning, more than 100 law enforcement officers from several agencies made arrests throughout North County. As of noon, 27 people were in federal or state custody, some having been arrested earlier in the week, with several others remaining fugitives.

The article doesn't make it crystal clear; but it sounds like the FBI/other feds hunted these people down.

This shows, there really is a gang problem in Southern California that seems deeper than almost anywhere else. Chicago apparently has a problem but it's obviously, not rooted in being able to go to Mexico on a daily basis.

This woman who moved to Texas from California complained how police helicopters with spotlights searching for gang members etc. could be seen in Southern California from time to time. Those are in that Sean Penn/Robert Duvall movie, "Colors" as well. That's pretty heavy stuff, I think I have seen that on the LA news as well. That's pretty disconcerting. That being said, wherever you have millions and millions of people living, it be NY, Florida, California, Texas, Illinois, you are going to see a fair amount of criminal activity.

Borderland Beat gets graphic sometimes; but some of their reporting is also done well as they conglomerate articles from various sources.  The website pretty much tells it straight about what is going on.

Much more on this, article seems suitable for all: http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2018/03/san-diego-county-ca-37-gang-members.html
