Updated at 9:30 p.m. with comment from Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier.

WASHINGTON — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's fundraising lagged far behind his top Democratic challenger during the first six weeks of 2018, a new federal campaign filing shows.

Cruz raised $800,000 through Feb. 14. That’s well below El Paso Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s $2.3 million haul, according to the most recent federal report.

The Republican also spent more than he raised — nearly $1.2 million, while O’Rourke burned through roughly $2 million in his bid to unseat the powerhouse incumbent. ...

Why fundraiser if you already have the win as a sure deal?

They are trying to pose this as a weakness, but is actually a strength.

Doesn't Cruz already have like $7m in his campaign accounts?

Though he trailed O'Rourke in this fundraising period, Cruz maintains the cash advantage heading into the primary election and closed the six-week period with about $6 million in his coffers, compared to O’Rourke’s $4.9 million. The finance report is required ahead of the upcoming primary.

O’Rourke — who has disavowed aid from political action committees — said in a prepared statement: "The grassroots momentum of our people-powered campaign has shown its full force across the state in the first 45 days of 2018, and it will continue to do so as Texans prove they're more than a match for the PACs and special interests."

He trailed Dewhurst too IIRC.  The Dems are throwing good money after bad if they think they can unseat Ted in this election.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

A Cruz win is not a sure thing. If the rats have a wave election and the GOP stays home Cruz is
in trouble. Remember we lost the redest state in the union (Alabama) to a democrat.
