Pentagon added 4,284 names to the gun ban list since the Texas church shooting

The U.S. military has added the names of more than 4,000 dishonorably discharged military personnel banned from purchasing guns to the FBI's background check system, according to a report published Monday morning.
The 4,284 names have been added since November to the FBI's list of former service members convicted of a felony-level crime, for a total of 15,597 names, CNN reported.
The addition comes three months after the massacre in Sutherland Springs, Texas, in which a former member of the Air Force who was dishonorably discharged for assaulting his wife was able to obtain the firearm used in that church shooting.
Following the mass shooting, the Air Force said it had failed to submit Devin Patrick Kelley's records to the FBI, as a 2015 policy was supposed to have required.
The Pentagon responded to the news by calling for all military branches to share its lists of banned personnel.
