Are there any of the first kind left?  I haven't run across any in some years now - seems like The Party has driven them all out.

I think there are still plenty of the first kind.  We'd have seen more of it had Hillary not rigged the Primaries and cheated Sanders out of the nomination.  His followers were of the "liberal" variety.

I don't think anybody's mentioned it because we all know about it.  We also know leftie trolls always introduce themselves as liberals as a way to buy goodwill from their future victims.  No point in drawing the distinction when we don't know what we're dealing with.

Too many people still use the terms interchangeably. I believe it’s important to mark the distinction, especially now as we are approaching very dangerous waters due to Donald Trump’s election. We can reconcile our differences with liberals politically, but not so with the international Left. Turning away their sick ideology may require extra-political means.

Well,you can't really blame them for that. They would have a hell of a time with recruiting and pulling in donations if they self-identified as the Stalinist bastards they really are.

Liberals rarely see themselves as liberals. They see themselves as centrists, moderates and pragmatists. Anyone not like them is the Far Right.

Now, I would have put Sanders firmly in the "global leftist" category.  The only thing that's at all appealing about his ideology (the Sanders first ideology) is that he appears to be a kindly old man.  Cranky, but that's because he cares so much.  And, that illusion lasts about as long as it takes to find out about the real man (and wife).

There is no guessing about Sanders. He openly declared he is a socialist.
