History came to life on Friday in Athens, when scientists revealed the face of a woman who lived in central Greece 7,000 years ago.

The reconstruction of the face of “Avgi”; a teenager who lived in 7,000 BC, was revealed at the Acropolis Museum during an event bringing together scientists lecturing about the aspects of life in Mesolithic Greece.

7,000 BC was 9,000 years ago. So I think the 7,000 BC was a mistake should have been
5,000 BC. About the time agriculture started in northern Greece. It would have been nice
to include a picture of the reconstitution too.

@jpsb

I saw no photos of the reconstruction in progress,but there is a photo of the reconstructed face. She seems to have been a redhead.

@sneakypete

Yes I saw that but the red head is a reconstruction of a 13 year old girl name Myrtis from 2010
so it is not the same girl.

I found a pic today, I looked yesterday but found nothing.

Thanks for the correction. They sure had me fooled. I don't remember seeing any mention of who the photo was,so just assumed it was the woman mentioned.

Thanks for the correction.

Had me fooled too until I googled the image. Bad reporting, I hardly trust anything I read these days
Sloppy reporting seems to be the norm now.

Are they sure it is a female? It looks very masculine to me.

Yep.  Newsweek must have lightened her up.

@skeeter

Probably because they created her look when she was having a "Midol Moment". Women in her time didn't have the luxury of having the free time to run around pissed off at the world. They were too busy trying to stay alive.
