I appreciate the insights of @Victoria33 , @XenaLee , @DB  , @goodwithagun and scores of other posters, whether I agree with them/you all the time or not.  Diverse opinions are what make places like this one so fascinating.  And most of us agree with most of us on everything that matters.

The passive-aggressive ones who seek to control others by intimidation need to be shunned. When we talk about Trump (or anyone/anything else) and they attack us instead of discussing the issue, we should just "pay them no never mind."  Maybe if all of us (myself included) just turned the other way when they're up to their pranks, they'd stop the nonsense.

Anyway....... KEEP POSTING, @Victoria33 !!  You have a lot of insight that this forum needs.  Don't let the meanies drive you away................ or even make you talk just about cats.  ^-^

Actually, that isn't necessary, musiclady.  There is, after all, an "Ignore" feature.  And as for that passive aggressive stuff, I'll just say... if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones.   :whistle:

I find it easier sometimes to just glide by people's comments rather than go through the bother of putting them on Ignore.

I only have two of them there now.......... one is permanent, the other may be removed at some point, but not likely.

I like it when the passive-aggressive types keep their same icons so I can identify them quickly, and move quickly by.

I only have problems when I don't follow my own advice and engage them in their folly.

(btw, if that little whistle icon was a passive aggressive critique of me, who is not at all passive in my aggression, it misses the mark.  I say what I think right out there.  I hate games............... unless they're contact sports.  ^-^)

I don't have a "passive aggressive" bone in my body.  But I do believe in being civil, even to those I disagree with, in an open forum (privately is another matter).   That includes not attacking them verbally or personally in the open forum.  As for what they say about politics.... it's open season... and I've been on that hunt for going on two decades now.... and ... loving it.

My problem is my hyper-defensiveness.  I love talking politics.  I love sparring.  But when it gets personal about me, I tend to swing back.

My problem here has been that attacks on Trump are almost always perceived as personal by some, and the result of my criticizing him is an ad hominem against me.  Then I defend, which I should be smart enough not to do.   :dx1:

Well... I have been "attacked verbally" here for criticizing Trump, as you probably already know.  Doesn't bother me one bit, as long as those attacking don't get personal or vulgar.  I'm used to it.... having posted mostly on leftist political forums previously. 

My problem is... I'm on the outside with both sides, really.   I'm not 100% pro-Trump since I DO and WILL criticize him if/when he does something I perceive as too squishy or pro-leftist.  As long as he doesn't lurch left, I'm not going to criticize him.  Especially not over something stupid like the "S-hole countries analogy".  So when I refuse to criticize him over stupid stuff, I catch flak from the anti-Trump side.... and I get critique from the Trump side any time I do criticize him.

It's that olde Catch-22.  Can't win either way.   But really, being an individual... I think for myself.  Nothing anyone says here has any effect one way or another on my perception and my political opinions.   So it's all good.  And I'm used to it.   ^-^

I think it's very clear that you are fair minded and an independent thinker, and I've seen that you've taken flak from both sides (even did it once myself!  Oops!).

Keep on doing what you're doing and other fair minded people with different opinions will see who you are.
