I just played Pass It On in church a couple weeks ago.

I may sound like an old-school scrooge saying this, but there's just no comparison between the songs written in the 20th century and those from the 21st. It's as if Chris Tomlin showed up on the scene and everything went to crap. Now we have nonsense like "Reckless Love" by Cory Asbury... reckless theology, reckless songwriting, an all-around wreck.

I couldn’t agree with you more. You might get a kick out of this video.

I'm with you, j. I was a kid when the Kaiser and Carmichael "contemporary" songs came along in the 1960s and grew up - spiritually and chronologically - with Second Chapter of Acts, Keith Green, Rich Mullins, etc. I will gladly sing Christian music from the 17th century and from the 1980s - but still cannot warm up to the current Tomlin-style 7-Eleven music one hears in so many church services today.

Founder of Feed My Starving Children, Richard Proudfit, dies
on November 14, 2018

...

A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Proudfit went to Honduras in 1982 on a medical relief mission and witnessed that country's starvation. In 1987, he founded Feed My Starving Children, a Christian-based nonprofit that has sent more than 2 billion meals to children and families in 70 countries since its inception.

Of all places, it was hunger in Honduras in '82, that spurred him on to start charity.

R.I.P. I loved his music. One ofthe top 5 banjo players in the world. I got to see him live about 30 years ago. It was an amazing performance.

Thank God and Greyhound he's gone—OK, that might be in poor taste, but in all earnestness, Roy was always a joy to see on TV as an all-around performer.

William Goldman Dies; Oscar Winning Writer Of ‘Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid’ Was 87

Quote
I have been informed by friends of the family that William Goldman died last night. He was 87. Goldman, who twice won screenwriting Oscars for All The President’s Men and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, passed away last night in his Manhattan home, surrounded by family and friends. His health had been failing for some time, and over the summer his condition deteriorated.

We will be following this and building out the story today, but I wanted to let Deadline readers know straight away. From his scripting work to his books like Adventures in the Screen Trade, Goldman is one of the greats, a true legend.

Goldman began as a novelist and transitioned to writing scripts with Masquerade in 1965. While his greatest hits were the indelible pairing of Robert Redford with Paul Newman in the George Roy Hill-directed Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Redford and Dustin Hoffman in the Alan Pakula-directed toppling of President Richard Nixon drama All The President’s Men, he wrote the scripts for many other great movies. The list includes the Hoffman-starrer Marathon Man, as well as The Princess Bride, Flowers For Algernon, The Stepford Wives, The Great Waldo Pepper, A Bridge Too Far, Chaplin and Misery. He also did a lot of behind the scenes script doctoring without taking a screen credit, as on films that included A Few Good Men and Indecent Proposal.

Aldyr Schlee, designer of Brazil's famous yellow jersey, dies

Brazilian players observed a minute of silence to Aldyr Schlee before a friendly against Uruguay in London

The man who designed the Brazilian football team's famous yellow shirt has died.

Aldyr Garcia Schlee, a designer, journalist and writer, was 83 and had been diagnosed with skin cancer.

He was only 18 when he submitted his design to a national competition launched after Brazil's traumatic home defeat in the 1950 World Cup.
