KORLA, China (AP) — Nobody knows what happened to the Uighur student after he returned to China from Egypt and was taken away by police.

Not his village neighbors in China’s far west, who haven’t seen him in months. Not his former classmates, who fear Chinese authorities beat him to death.

Not his mother, who lives in a two-story house at the far end of a country road, alone behind walls bleached by the desert sun. She opened the door one afternoon for an unexpected visit by Associated Press reporters, who showed her a picture of a handsome young man posing in a park, one arm in the wind.

“Yes, that’s him,” she said as tears began streaming down her face. “This is the first time I’ve heard anything of him in seven months. What happened?”...

I've seen this story posted here and there over the past couple of days.

Sounds draconian, 1984-ish (it is), but one has to "read a bit further" to discover WHY the Chinese are doing this.

The "extreme monitoring" seems to be directed specifically at a group called the "Uighurs".
And what is their religion?
islam.

Sounds like the Chinese are taking seriously the islamic threat that is a danger to all non-muslim countries and peoples.

But -- unlike we of The West -- they are actually DOING SOMETHING to counter it.

We've seen this before.
More recently in Burma to counter the threat of the Royingyas.
And back in the mid-90's the efforts by the Serbians to get rid of muslims there.

This is why some countries will successfully oppose islam.
And why others will crumble into dhimmitude.

In a existential war of survival with a totalitarian system disguised beneath the burqha of "religion", it's not enough to "talk the talk".

One must walk the walk.
The Chinese understand this.
