Okinawa governor wants all US aircraft grounded after window fell near schoolchildren

Okinawa’s governor has demanded that all U.S. military aircraft be grounded on the island for safety checks after a Marine Corps helicopter lost a window over an elementary school on Wednesday.

Gov. Takeshi Onaga’s comments came Thursday during a meeting in Tokyo with Japan’s State Minister of Defense Tomohiro Yamamoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Masahisa Sato and U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Joseph Young, said officials with Okinawa Prefecture.
