Steelers LB Ryan Shazier carted off the field with reportedly no feeling in lower body after suffering potential spinal injury
NY Daily News, Dec 4, 2017, Ari Gilberg

A scary scene unfolded at Paul Brown Stadium Monday night.

Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier had to be carted off the field after he led with his helmet on a tackle attempt early in the first quarter of the Steelers’ game against the Bengals.

Shazier drilled his helmet into the side of Bengals receiver Josh Malone, causing his neck to buckle and his legs to go limp.

Shazier immediately grabbed his lower back and remained motionless on the ground for several moments before being taken off the field on a stretcher. He did not have feeling in his lower body, according to NFL.com.

News reports are misleading.  Shazier did have an MRI and a CT scan, but he is still being evaluated.  He's not out of the woods yet.

Hopefully, he will be returned to Pittsburgh perhaps today.  Can't speak for doctors and hospitals in Cincinnati, but Pittsburgh has some of the best doctors and hospitals for back/spinal cord injuries.  Shazier will get the best care in Pittsburgh.

Much as I am still pizzed at the Steelers for their flag stunt, I still join others in prayers for Shazier's recovery.

Reports this morning are of a spinal cord (or "chord," good grief, do schools not teach anything?) contusion, meaning a good chance he'll regain all movement.

Yes, it seems Shazier does have some leg movement. But best to wait for updates from the medical team, possibly later today.
